Good read and I definitely appreciate what the jets are doing. This is a great time to be a fan. During the Pennington/Edwards days we were pretenders at best.
Its true, this is a great time to be a Jets fan. I'm proud to wear my Jets stuff. I'm proud of this team.
Funny thing, of course I'm proud to be a JETS FAN, but ever since Rex has been with us and the success hes instilled , I've worn less Jets gear, coincidence? Dunno. But I used to wear Jets Jerseys every single day for years.
so you will cheer them on when they're bad but when they get good you don't support them? Doesn't make sense
All I know is that I really don't know how far our qb will take us, but I am very confident our coach will find a way to cash in on his promises of winning that superbowl. All I want is for Rex to be our coach for many, many years to come.
Could be that he's older and finds less of a reason to wear sports paraphernalia around like a slob. I rarely wear any sports jerseys anymore unless I'm going to a game or going to watch a game with other people.
I suppose. I ride MCs alot, so don't feel the need I guess , no one is going to see it anyway. I didn't say that, did I?
The writer could have mentioned Woody Johnson at least once. Without him and his wallet, the Jets stay mired in mediocrity. Jet fans aren't a "pessimistic lot by nature"...it took years and years of dysfunction and disappointment to achieve that mindset. A dog that's been beaten constantly by it's owner is not gonna become Rin Tin Tin overnight. Still...it's been nice to be a Jet fan lately.
I love this team and will enjoy every second of this run (and hopefully its a very long run capped off by a VLT) One thing I learned as a Knick fan is not to take the winning times for granted. All those years getting beat by the Bulls or losing in the finals, I never realized how good it was to have your team in the playoffs every year and be in the discussion as a championship team. Then it all fell to sh*t. I won't make that same mistake with this team. Too many years watching the Jets season virtually over by Thanksgiving. As bad as I want to win a SB, I am going to thoroughly enjoy all the regular season wins, the playoff games, and the attention.
Seconded. 10 years minimum. If Cowher (who is a deity in peoples eyes) got 8 years to run the Steelers before an SB win, I think its fair to give Rex at least the same amount of time. This will be the 2nd time in franchise history that they make the playoffs 3 consecutive wins. That says enough about our head coach. Edit: +1 @ 88toon
It's not a requirement of being a fan to wear a jersey. Could simply be a sense of stubborn pride that makes someone more likely to display their allegiance when times are tough. I used to make a point of wearing Jet gear after a loss. I'm not sure why either.
i've been a die hard since i was kid but never remember it being this fun to be a fan... we are contenders and it feels great... one thing that hasnt changed is that non-Jet fans still love to hate lol... only this time i can laugh it off because i know we are a great team with a great coach and have a real shot at glory... with Tanny as GM and woody dishin out the dough im also confident that they will be able to field a solid team year in and year out... i think we have finally found a group that knows what their doing
Bingo! WE weren't the ones that fell for the fake spike. WE didn't start 10-0 and then lose 6 straight. Theres a reason Jet fans are wary of these guys. That being said it's nice to watch them win recently.
I'm trying to remember when a rookie head coach turned around a team so fast. It took Bill Walsh a couple of years with the 49ers.
Well said. It's been great, i wear jet attire all over the place out here in southern cal with my middle finger up. And as far as being a "sojf", you go through decades of underachievement and let's see where your attitude is at. The God Damn Jets are fuckin' awesome!!!
