Jets | R. Reed off the PUP list Sat, 29 Jul 2006 09:59:57 -0700 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets CB Rayshun Reed passed the part of the conditioning test Saturday morning, July 29, which he failed Thursday morning, July 27. Not suprised. Maybe it was McCareins not giving enough effort into the test...maybe that was why Mangini failed him?
Im willing to make a bet that this was Mangini pulling a Parcells and making an example of someone early. McCareins was prolly still hobbling over his injury and was hesitant regarding the test, and Mangini used that as an opportunity to make him a showcase to the entire team that no BS will be tolerated.
Oh get the heck outta here. Cotchery isn't as good as J-Mac, he's done absolutely nothing to show that.
That's because he has never been given a chance. (unless you count the "limited" playing time he had with almost a completly disabled offense)
If he's using the New England condition test, which is a fair bet, it's an objective test. You either pass it, or you fail it. So, it's unlikely that he was failed for lack of effort. Players have to run a certain number of 30(?) yard sprints under a certain time limit assigned for your position. I've read about it a thousand friggin' times in the Boston papers. As an aside, you know who would know every little detail about the conditioning test off the top of his head, and would chime in on questions just like this? . . . . nightowltom.
Cotchery is entering his third season, which is a common breakout season for an NFL WR. He has shown flashes in his limited action, and I can see him being an effective #2 and slot reciever.
