touchback after touchback after touchback fuck roger goodell and his pussy new rules. just make it flag
All In know is the new rule has apparantly injected Nick Folk with a bionic leg. When kicking off from the 30 last season, he rarely reached the 5 yard line. On Sunday kicking 5 yards closer, he was booming them 15 yards deeper to the back of the end zone.
I Think there was more punt returns then kick returns but either way, doesn't matter. Every team has to deal with it.
I think he just got stronger. That 50 yard fg he hit couldve easily been 60+.... granted it didnt swerve to the right anymore, but distancewise it was a bomb
He is probably less concerned with getting hangtime to maximize coverage or whatever else it is that runs through a kicker's mind. He has a few more yards to work with now...he knows he can kick it to the back of the endzone or out of it, so he just boots it all he can. That was a pretty long game winner that could've been even longer though. Maybe it's a combination with finding some extra boot too. Still I'd place more emphasis on the former.
I think we'll see more touchbacks as the year goes on, because teams were more focused on figuring out if they can or should return a deep kick instead of covering them. Special teams probably had very little practice time with the shortened offseason, and coverage practice likely lost out to return practice.
