Maybe it's time for the NY Sports Media to have a regime change too?

I was thinking about it earlier today after the wave of negative publicity surrounding the Jet's camp opening. Most of the guys who cover the team have been around for 10 to 15 years at this point. That's a long time to cover a team and not get jaded. Maybe it's time for some new blood and a fresh start for the Post, the Daily News and Newsday.

I actually like some of the stuff that Cimini and Myers write but Serby and Cannizaro are basically hopeless negativists at this point, constantly harping on anything that goes wrong. While I did not support Chad's outburst at the media in 2004 I do think it was symptomatic of a media culture that has deteriorated badly since Parcells left town.

I wonder how one would make the case to the various media outlets that they might better serve their customers with less biased and disgruntled writers covering the team?

But by the time the regime change comes, the jets will be 7-9 and the fans will be dying to here some unprofessional, negative reports. Everyone seems to be excited that the organization is showing no class with the media but history proves that the fans will only side with the organization until they start losing.

Just look at some of Cimini's columns last year that were praised by members of the boards after the same members blasted him for being "unprofessional" during last off season when these members were full of hope.

If it was Herm who plotted these pitiful actions against the media at the end of last year this board would be all over Cannizarro for being to leinient on him.

I guess my reaction is primarily aimed at Serby and Cannizaro more than anybody else.

It has been at least 5 years since I've felt that Serby was able to put a relatively unbiased cap on when he looked at the Jets. Most of the time he's about agenda, agenda, agenda, and the agenda is rarely a positive look at what the team is actually doing.

Cannizaro is a different story. He got so deep in Herm's back pocket over the last few years that I think he forgot he was covering the Jets not their head coach. He has been relentlessly negative about the new regime and has taken every opportunity to pop off at them. Honestly, 6 months into a new head coach and coach is not the time to be raking your fingernails across the blackboard every time you have a deadline to meet.

I expect the national media to be biased when it comes to the Jets, having the hometown media also popping off all the time is getting annoying. I'm not an endless cheerleader for the hometeam, as you all know, but I do expect them to be given the benefit of the doubt until events prove otherwise and right now Serby and Cannizaro cannot do that.

It's time to get some new faces in who can.

Haha, Cannizaro sounds a lot like Ron Borges from the Boston Globe. He had big in's with the Carroll regime and then when Belichick came in he was given the same access as any other reporter. Can you guess which reporter always writes negative stories on the Pats in Boston still? Hhehehe.

Got to love it. Let 'em rot.

I see, it's only alright for the fans to be merciless, irrational darksiders. If reporters write critical articles they should be ****canned.

Cannizzaro doesn't get paid for his opinions. He gets paid to report Jets news, fair and balanced. If he wants to bitch about the new regime, he should get a blog or something. It's embarassing that the Post actually printed the garbage he wrote today.
