Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey is credited with saving a teammates life on Monday. http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Jeremy-Shockey-saved-a-teammates-life-in-lunch-room.html According to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post, a piece of pork tenderloin lodged in fellow tight end Ben Hartsock’s throat. Hartsock tried drinking some water to clear his throat and when that didn’t work it became evident to others in the room he could not breathe. “He started to go to the bathroom and I don’t know if he collapsed, but he couldn’t breathe,” his agent Mike McCartney said. “Some new guy came and tried to give him the Heimlich. It didn’t work. Then, Shockey hit him in the back pretty hard and out came the meat. The Panthers told me it was really scary. “Ben told me Shockey came over and gave me the Heimlich Maneuver and saved my life. He was in good spirits and he’s real thankful for Shockey.”
what did he try to do? swallow the whole tenderloin? glad he's okay. i'm sure he's going to hear about it all season long... don't choke ben!
Some new guy came and tried to give the Heimlich, but then Shockey said, "stand back, I'm a professional choke artist."
Hartsock is an accident waiting to happen, on and off the field. Glad he lived, also glad he's on the Panthers and not the Jets.
