Hey guys, haven't posted for awhile, glad to be back.I already have a dilema week #1. I was fortunate enough to draft Felix Jones from Dallas as my RB. I really think he will have an awesome season from what I've read. We play Dallas opening week and our defense is great against the run. I am going to sit Jones (or is that crazy) but am not sure who I should start. Here is my team with Felix on the bench: QB Shaub RB Ben Jarvis RB Willis McGahee Wr Andre Johnson Wr Roddy White Flex (could be either a Wr or Rb) TE Keller K Folk Def Detroit *Wrs get an extra point for each receptions My options for the flex position is Plaxico Burris, Gregg Jennings, or Reggie Bush Possibilities 1) Sit Ben Jarvis vs Miami or will the Pats offense crush them? 2) Start Reggie Bush because the Pats are weak against the run? 3) Start Willis McGhee because he gets every goal line carry? 4) Start Plax against a weak Dallas secondary? 5) Start Felix Jones against our awesome run defense? What would your starting line up be? thanks
Start Bush... he should be a big part of Miamis offense this year. If the Pats put up a lot of points Bush will be out on the field a lot week 1.
Thanks Jetskees My starters in "stone" are Shaub, A Johnson, Roddy White. After that Im making myself crazy. Love the idea of starting Reggie Bush at RB or flex. If I start Reggie Bush, who do you like with my remaining positions? Ben Jarvis? Plax? Jennings? MaGhee? Do I consider starting Felix Jones against the JETS defense? Thanks
Thanks Rockefella, this is a big help. You like Jennings alot? I ask only because I havent seen much of him this pre season........ Would you sit MaGhee? I have been noticing and reading how he is their "goal line" RB and Denver plays Oak which should be high scoring. Just curious for your (and anyone elses) fantasy football knowledge before activating my team. Thanks Anyone else have (or like) playing Jennings this week ?
You start Jennings every week he's a Top fantasy WR. How'd you even get the WR core?? Hahhahaa anyway, start Jennings at the flex for sure and than start Bush at the RB, he has big play ability and Jones will be stonewalled against the Jets run D. I'd also suggest trading Jennings for a better RB if you can, you're weak at the position and yur team would be really solid with another good RB like Mcfadden or too a team that's WR hungry.
Thanks JTJ, its a 10 team league and I am over loaded at Wr. My strategy this season was to draft the best Wr becuase there is an extra point given for receptions. I had the 6th pick and took A Johnson and Roddy White when it swung back to me in round 2. When my third pick presented itself I got too "cute" and gambled that Peyton Hillis would be there in the 4th (he wasnt) and took Jennings (in the 3d) who fell in my lap. As the draft continued Plax and Lee Evans, were available much later. In hindsight I should have taken Hillis over Jennings being that I had two studs at Wr to start. Thanks for the advice, but with workhorse RBs at a premium, Im not sure if I can land a RB for Jennings at the moment.
I would still start Felix Jones because he's your best RB (McGahee shouldn't be starting) and you have to start Greg Jennings every week (so put him in the flex). EDIT: Also, since it's a PPR league, consider benching BJGE for Bush.
I am a little hesitant to sit MaGhee because he has a TD in each pre season and appears to be their goaling back. I do see your point of view about Jones. Just hate having to root for him against our defense.
McGahee could be a good play in a John Fox offense, but I wouldn't want to be relying on him all season long. He's done shit in the preseason for yards per carry, so unless you see the Broncos getting to the goalline a lot, he is not reliable. You need better running backs, as you lack anyone who could achieve RB1 numbers. In a PPR, you should have Woodhead instead of Green-Ellis. Bush and Jones are both gambles as neither have been a reliable fantasy RB2 and are both likely to be part time players. For now, stick with White and Johnson with Jennings as your flex. That is a killer threesome in a PPR. If Burress kills in the first two weeks, then trade him for someone good who had a rough start, like Ray Rice is bound to have. Also, is your bench only three deep? Dump whatever back up defense and kicker you have and go after a couple prospects at RB.
Thanks Nick. Great advice. My other back ups include Lee Evans, Ben Tate (Fosters backup), and Deon Branch
BJGE also gets the goal-line carries and he's the Patriots starting RB. If you're starting McGahee, you're pretty much banking on him scoring a TD. At least with BJGE and Bush, you can get those 6 points two ways (60 yards is the same as a TD).
If you start those 3 receivers EVERY week there is no bye, you should win the league. Wait... And you have Plax? Jesus, trade your best WR for a top tier RB and start Plax in the flex every week. If not you will be staring at points on your bench every week. Also looks like you should be doing waiver wire work every week with your defense.
Is it a ppr, or ppr for WR only? If a full PPR you should start BJGE, Bush, White, Andre and Jennings basically every week, if WR only then make decisions based week to week on Bush vs McGahee. Also who is on waivers at RB, in a 10 team league I would think there might be someone out there.
Wow I just looked at the lineup and missed that he had Jones. Yeah Jones over BJGE, alternate BJGE and Bush by matchup. BJGE against teams the Patriots will stomp, Bush in weeks when NE has tough matchups.
