Jets ranked 8th in the NFL in sacks last year with 40, just 8 behind the Steelers who lead the NFL. Yet the perception is that we don't have a pass rush. Another example of the media creating a fantasy that is not based on facts and some fans buy into it. Also, QB pressures are almost as important as sacks and our scheme is designed to create pressures as much as sacks.

I'm no expert, but I'd be willing to bet a lot of our sacks were coverage sacks due to excellent pass coverage, not excellent pass rush. Sacks aren't the only measure of a pass rush.

That being said, it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

Its called blitzing. Look at the stats when rushing with 4. I'm sure theyr'e as bad as the Patriots stats.

Not getting pressure with 3 or 4 was the issue.... not how many sacks we had

... pass rush is our biggest problem on defense ...

... those front 7 need to get better push ...

... this lack was a big contributor to 3rd and long completions and opponents getting 1st downs to the #3/4 wr's or te's late over the middle ...

... hoping a healthy pace, the 2 draft picks & the new kid from buff will help ...

The Patriots pass defense isnt a problem at all, they led the NFL in interceptions !!!!! (yes they really did)

...Yet somehow they have the 3rd most passing yards allowed of any team in the nfl (moreso than even the horrendous Jaguars secondary, and only just over 100 less than the league worst Texans)

they were inconsistent at times. but the main reason they allowed so many passing yards last year was because Tom Brady's low ATT to INT ratio had teams playing from behind usually by the 2nd qtr.

and you dont close large defecits against the NE offense by constantly running.

a pass rusher is the only thing keeping this defense from being scary.

pass rush is a big concern, lets not kid ourselves man. It made the difference in the Ravens game when they kept converting on 3rd and longs all game.

that being said, it really is the only thing keeping this D from being the best of all time.

    Stats don't mean shit

I knew clicking on this thread I would find some retard saying we were 8th in sacks which means our pass rush is good.

    I was right.

PasH rush is actually NOBODY's problem.

For Jets defense, though, consistent pasS rusher would be a welcome addition.

'pash rush' isnt the problem. getting to the QB, and generating pressure is. we don't have anybody who can consistently beat his blocker(s) 1on1.

rex keeps saying we ranked 8th in sacks, because he is ignorant. rex isnt going to say 'my defense cant get a consistent pass rush.' his balls are too big to say that.

True but they also made some horrendous qbs look like studs

    Carson Palmer 34-50 350 yards 2 td 1 int

    Chad Henne 28-38 305 yards 2 tds 3 ints
    Rapist 30-49 400 yards 3 tds 1 int
    Matt Flynn 24-37 250 yards 3 tds 1 int

Not to mention Sanchez was inconsistent last year, and completely torched the pats in at least 2 games.

Their defense sure aint nearly as terrible as 2 years ago, but that team is still 100% Brady.
