I don't know, I am worried. Especially because without the off-season conditioning, I fear injuries become much more prominent this year, and I worry that we don't have the depth we need. Though I do hope someone can talk me down on this one.
McKnight looked very good. I know it was against backups, but I wouldn't be shocked to see McKnight be the top back on this team sometime down the line. As much as I like Greene, he hasn't shown the consistency to be a #1 yet.
Greg McElroy. AdamSchefter Adam Schefter FWIW: Through two preseason weeks, Jets seventh-round pick Greg McElroy leads all rookie QBs with an 89.5 QB rating.
Is it me or are we really this good at running back, like holy shit, we are 4 deep at RB Shonn Greene Ladainian Tomlinson Joe McKnight Bilal Powell Sadly there aren't enough carries for all these guys, but Joe McKnight is a burner, if we get Greene and Connor to wear down the Defense, if you put this guy in for a couple plays, he can easily break it for a big play, dude has that ability
We aren't that deep at RB. You can't expect too much from LT this year. He has no burst left. The best you can hope for him is 5-6 touches a game and a check down option in the passing game. Powell needs time yet. McKnight is looking better but still far from being able to be counted on for a big time contribution.
LT is one of the greatest backs in recent memory, and no doubt the Chargers gave up on him too soon. But maybe not that soon. Maybe, as in LT sure did not look like much last night.
I was always in his corner, because I hate knee-jerk shitheads screaming to remove a kid from a team when he struggles early on. Everyone gets three years. Its good to see that late rounders are producing for this team.
2 out of the 3, Plax caught the ball with his body. That is a bad thing. The only one he didn't was the diving TD catch. Plax has a long way to go before he's MVP Plax. The good news, though, is that Plax looked to get stronger as the game went on. Which means, the more reps he gets, the more rust falls off. That's pretty much what we hoped for. I'm optimistic he will make an 80% statistical recovery.
I disagree with Cumberland. He's an obvious choice to call out because we heard his name a lot. But he has several dropped balls which should have been easily caught.
The only thing I'm noticing about Cumberland is that he's a physical freak. Guy has the potential to be a stud tight end and has more pass-catching upside than Dustin Keller.
Yeah, I left this unsaid. But I think this is why they are giving him a lot of reps right now. It seems he will play a lot more 2nd TE in red zone passing formations opposite Keller.
I thought the starting offensive line, as a whole, looked subpar in both pass protect and the run game. Individually, I didn't focus much on Vlad, but he didn't look nearly as bad as @HOU. We'll take any positives with him. Burress, Keller, Sanchez, McKnight, McElroy, and Cumberland played well.
Cumberland. I wanna see some 2 TE sets and watch Cumberland drag McCourty and Meriweather into the end zone braylon style haha
Someone was watching sports center this morning , your right I would have much rather him not catch the ball than with his body
Plax cradled the ball with his body instead of using his hands and attempting to make a football move. Seemed happy just making the catch. Needs to work on technique. I have full confidence it will all come back to him. Props to him for maknig the catches though.
