Adam Schefter: The two teams interested in former Bills LB Aaron Maybin are the New York Jets and Chicago Bears.”
Is that so? You do realize the player referenced in your very screen name started here as a project? Brandon Moore, Bryan Thomas,Matt Slauson and Wayne Hunter were also one time projects. Here's why bringing in Maybin may make some sense philisophically: Reports out of Buffalo are that a large part of his problem is consistency w/ his playing weight. He seems to be all over the place at any point in time and can get to as low as 225 Pounds. Over the past decade, the Jets have been able to solve similar weight issues with players like Brick and Bryan Thomas. Maybe you take a chance on a former first round talent who you've seen twice a year over the past few seasons if you think a change of scenary combined with a better weight plan can make a difference. On a 1 year preseason try-out type deal at a position we need help at....what is there to lose?
well if he goes to the Bears we can place bets to see who gets a sack first Maybin or that douche bag Casper.
I'm not the most savvy football fan in the world so maybe someone can offer some insight. He was a complete bust in a 3-4 defense...so....why are they trying to sign him? Never saw him play that i'm aware of so...was he just in a bad situation? (bills...obviously a bad situation)
I see Tanny is living up to his "leave no stone unturned" motto. I guess that includes known turds as well.
He turned 23 in April..still very young. He isn't coming here to be the starting OLB in a 3/4, or even play the role of a 3/4 OLB. If he is able to make the team, it will be for 3rd down purposes. Just run at the QB.
This would be a no risk move, he isn't signing for much and if he continues to be bad we cut him. It's a worthy gamble.
There's no down side to this. One year "prove it" deals seem to be in vogue this offseason/preseason. Let the dumb bastard either play well and give us depth in the front 7, or bomb and walk at the end of the year so he can shave "unemployed" into his hair. Win-win.
From what I've read and correct me if I'm wrong since college he has had a hard time keeping his weight up. Out of college I saw some people saying he would be just a one down pass rusher because he has pretty much no ability to stop the run.
The Jets signed Maybin...we don't need 2 threads going. Continue the discussion in the other thread. thanks.
