Totally agree. Same with Jason Campbell IMO. He had, what? A combination of 4 or 5 different OC's and HC's in 3 or 4 years?
Getting to the AFC Championship in your 1st two years as a head coach certainly qualifies as accomplishing something. It sounds like your homosexual friend doesn't know much about football.
Tell him to stop watching ESPN and learn football. I'm bored so I'll go into depth: Soundbites of Rex will make him out to be a pompous douche who thinks he's the next Lombardi, but if anyone actually watches the fucking press conferences he's very self deprecating and gives tons of credit to other teams, the Patriots especially. He believes in his team, but for the exception of this season, finally made the guarantee about winning the super bowl. He always said he "thinks" that his team is the best. What coach doesn't "think" they're the best team in the league?
Tell him Frisco is the country's capital for deviant homosexual behavior (Jimmy will love this). Then tell him Alex Smith is his QB.
I'm not sure that Smith has ever been destined for success in the NFL, but I've always thought that Jason Campbell got screwed. The guy was a legit pro prospect, but he's spent his entire career with the two worst franchises in football and he's never had the same OC in back to back years of his career. Not even Peyton Manning could've developed like that. Campbell never had a shot.
It's strange that this only occurs to me now, but I can't rightly remember the last time I actually spoke with a fan of the 49ers. I had assumed they were all wearing Pastes merch now.
