Byron "Whizzer" White was an all-american halfback for Colorado, led the NFL in rushing in 1938 and 1940, had his NFL career cut short by WW II, served in the Navy as an intel officer during WWII, earned 2 bronze stars, graduated from Yale Law School Magna Cum Laude, practiced law and wound up serving on the Supreme Court - not a bad role model for the young Mr. Stewart.
