Hey Rich, where do you choose to spend your Friday nights when you're really in the mood to tongue the asshole of a turtle? What kind of idiot would actually ask that guy his football opinion? He knows dick about football.
Wait, ESPN? What does this have to do with Tiger or Danica? I wonder how Cimini still has a job...oh, wait, it's ESPN.
ben (long island) why do you always put a negative spin on the jets? if you don't like the team, don't report for them. you also seem to profess a lot of the time that you know more than rex and the organization about their own players. Rich Cimini (12:30 PM) I disagree with you. I don't put a negative spin on the Jets. When I write a news story, I report the facts. When I write a column, I give my opinion. Sometimes it's pro Jets, sometimes it's not.
John (New York) Hey Rich, the other day you wrote an article about Shaun Ellis and how he "ended" Drew Bledsoe's career. If you did some proofreading or research you would have realized it was Mo Lewis not Ellis Rich Cimini (12:45 PM) I quickly realized the mistake and corrected it. Here's the background: I remember talking to Ellis last year, and he was describing that play and how loud he remembered it being on the field. For some reason, that stuck in my brain. Apologies to Mo for not giving him his due on his history-changing hit.
Nice backtracking. You only realized it, Rich, when everyone with some knowledge of football called you out on it.
I honestly don't get the animosity toward Cimini — as far as beat writers go, he's fine. He regularly updates his blog/twitter and has the perspective of someone who's covered the team for a while. It's better than I'd expect from ESPN.
Really, he's not fine. Calling Kenrick Ellis a druggie on draft day? This latest screw-up about Bledsoe and Shaun Ellis? His many, many articles that contradict themselves all in the efforts of bashing the Jets?
I don't disagree. Really, I just want him to keep his opinion out of things. He's good at reporting rumors. He was better pre-Twitter since now more people talk about these things. But he will say things to piss me off. Calling Ellis a druggie was bad. And he does take a negative spin when he is giving his opinion. Thats not always a bad thing, but its annoying sometimes. Fair point re: the Kenrick Ellis comments. The tone was probably in poor taste on draft day. Although the Ellis/Mo Lewis brainfart just seems like a random typo.
