The only thing I'm worried about is the potential for injury when you have two receivers over the age of 32. We still don't know what we're getting from Burress and Mason is coming off a down year (by his standards). I'm taking a wait-and-see approach.

blah blah blah age age age age age age blah blah blah is all I'm hearing about from SOJF. i mean, have some people never seen this guy play? He's one if the best/most consistent receivers in the league. i'm fucking stoked to have him in a Jets uniform.

37 is awful old for a WR.

And last year he had twice as many yards and half as many drops as Cotch who was 29, and your point is..?

We have officially upgraded at #2 and #3 WRs. Haters will hate but the team is better at the position.

#2 is not an upgrade. it's a huge fucking question mark. #3 is a slight upgrade in terms of previous production.

Good to see we have our WR position set for the year. Its nice not having any question marks going in to training camp this year.

I think he will answer those questions. If he does, and returns to form.. he is a better WR than Braylon.

One can spin the whole prison thing in that it actually saved him from 2 years of ware and tear on his body. He stayed in shape and has a chip on his shoulder.

Defintely the positive way to look at it, but its not unfair.

Sorry but every single team has question marks going into the season.

What's wrong with taking a wait-and-see approach with two players neither you nor I have seen in a Jets uniform before? And did you really just call me a SOJF?

Completely disagree at#2. BE made some HUGE plays and had a very nice year.

Thinking a guy who's been out of the game for 2 years and is 34 years old is gonna do better than BE is VERY wishful thinking.

I hope it works out well, but you have to have your doubts.

Me too. 85 had great talent but even in his prime, his otherwise impressive stats were often misleading. Over the course of any given season, he'd have a few incredible performances blended with another handful of unspectacular, mediocre efforts and with the rest of the season marked by way too many games that he pulled inexcusable disappearing acts. His petulant, diva like inconsistent on the field efforts were especially magnified when compared to his slower and less talented but far more committed and hardworking teammate in Cinncinati, TJH, who would be an ideal slot man for us if he wasn't a burned out shadow of his former self.

Sorry, posted before I saw this.

Definitely a positive spin, but I agree it's not out of the question. At this point though, I don't think it would be fair to say we upgraded.

Cool for Sanchez's Top 3 WR's to have Super Bowl Experience too:

    1. Holmes: Super Bowl XLIII MVP (Game winning TD catch)
    2. Burress: Super Bowl XLII Champ (Game winning TD catch)
    3. Mason: Super Bowl XXXIV: Couple catches, 18 yards.

If Plaxico Burress stays healthy and can be half of what he was for the Giants, then I wouldn't necessarily call him an upgrade over Braylon Edwards...I'd call him a constant. If we can get solid production out of him, especially in the redzone, then the position won't miss a beat.

Derrick Mason is a very big upgrade over Jerricho Cotchery for a few reasons.

    1. He can play in the slot.

    2. He's more experienced.

    3. He wants to be here.

    4. He's an excellent mentor for future inside wideouts like Jeremy Kerley and Scotty McKnight.

Great news guys, hate to say it, but Cotchery did us a favor by leaving. Mason is an upgrade, he is a 3rd down clutch receiver, he's never hurt and he's a deep threat, something Cotch was not. Now that's 2 players in the last 3 days, Brodney and Mason that took less to play for the Jets. Ummm, I wonder why. Maybe its the jersey Pizza.

I'm thinking BEasy will get suspended for a year at-least he needs to be. The guy needs time to think about the direction his life is headed.

He has not missed a single game since 2002. Dude is durable, all we care about is this year.

Mason is a huge upgrade over Cotchery and there is really nothing else to say. Cotchery was a nice guy and Mason is a great football player.
