At best our starting QB is an average NFL QB (at the moment) and so we would probably be better set than any other contender if our starting QB went down as they are pretty much all reliant on have a tier 1 QB for their success.
ground and pound with an excellent defense. Not worried at all. Johnny Unitas would be preferable, sure, but pretty much any mope can execute handoffs all day long. Spend our limited cash on players who are actually likely to play.
Jeff Hostetler & Tom Brady teach us that just because your starter goes down doesn't mean you can't still win the Superbowl.
Brunnell has a year under our offense and we have a GREAT offensive line to protect him. Plus with our running game to take the heat off and a couple years of rest he's had we would be just fine. If Mark1 were to get hurt Mark2 would be our Trent Dilfer.
So you are hoping Sanchez goes down, right? Brilliant. Why don't you hope that the Jets line, which happens to be one of the very best in the business, keep Mark upright all season instead?
In all fairness to the op, I don't see anywhere within his post that implies his hope for Sanchez to get injured.
I bet a lot of you said the same things in 1999... that said, we really don't have much cap space to go for a backup qb. Hopefully, Brunell can be a spark or McElroy is a good player or we're done if Sancho goes down. Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using Tapatalk
I am assuming, god forbid Sanchez goes down, that whoever steps in will be running a stripped down offense with an emphasis on running the ball.
Where did he say he was hoping Sanchez got hurt? He is just saying he is concerned at the people behind Sanchez. Other people in this thread have made perfectly valid statements to back up their disagreement with the op. I would point out that Sanchez has been hurt before for the Jets and has had knee surgery, but someone would probably claim I'm hoping a piano falls on him in training camp. And why does the op saying in an earlier post that he thought the Jets got a steal in the draft mean he would be happy for that player to be taking snaps for us this year? How is that 'ownage'?
Ever since 1999, I've always been obsessed with having a respectable backup qb. having said that, I'm not sure where the Jets could have gone this offseason to replace Brunell without spending any real money. And the top priority had to be to bring back 2 of the big 3 free agents and replace the third with someone almost as good, just as good, or, perhaps, even better.
this I dont think i had ever been that excited about a late round draft pick. always thought through the Newton hype and all the lockout shit McElroy was a good story lost in all the bs. hes good enough to be a career backup and thats all I need.
there's no need to worry. This team is stacked, we're going 20-0. we're so bad ass we won't even take the bye in the playoffs (at least that's what some people on here would make u think) so hush it u soj pussy
