I know he has tenure and all, but he is getting up there in age and he wasn't particularly amazing last year. He's made enough money from us, if he wants to win a Super Bowl and give the team flexibility under the cap, he'll take the deal and not be offended by it.

It's the Jets for a year or retirement for the Big Kat probably. Coming off his playoff performance I thought for sure they'd bring him back to be a part-timer and help mentor the rookies. Looks like it's probably 50/50 at this point.. my guess is he'll take a week or so to decide then come back so he gets to miss out on some of training camp.
It will also add another year to his retirement benefits which may be worth more than the salary itself.
Exactly... I don't think he'll get much more money somewhere else. Also I like how people are treating 0.9 million dollars like they were 5$.

Tannenbaum's a phony. Offering a guy like Ellis the minimum after saying how important Ellis is, is a joke. Sorry that it offends some not to kiss Tanny's as- and pretend this screwing people over stuff is ok.
