Man do I miss Hard Knocks. I wish we could get more frequent updates. And Tanny definately has something in the works. Hopefully we hear something in the next day or so.

No Brad Smith either, who I think people are going to end up missing more than they realize.

arguably the best kick returner in football last season. ill miss him for sure, even if the team doesnt.

i didnt get to listen to the press conference... do we think for sure a trade is in the works?

I think Smith can and will be replaced. Let's not forget that KO's are now from the 35 essentially neutralizing what a great weapon Smith was. His receiving numbers will be replaced and while he did add an element of surprise with the WC I don't anticipate the Jets running too much of it this year.

i dont think smith is a huge loss..... while there will be more touchbacks, late season cold weather games and playoffs games you are likely to see more returns, so there is some value

There's a history of this team having really good kick-off returners. From Chad Morton, Justin Miller up to Brad Smith, even Cromartie did well in the limited role last season - yet as the revolving door spins, the one constant through all of that is still here - Mike Westhoff.

Whoever wins the job going forward this team is still in good hands with MW coaching them.

The only real hole I see is at safety. What's Ed Reed's situation again?

    ed reed?

his situation is he'll be top 3 in the league for INT's after only playing 6 games a year.

thats pretty much the ed reed story the last few years.

also Ed Reed SPECIFICALLY stated this offseason in regards to his neck something along the lines of "i cant hit like i used to. I cant be so reckless" not the rex attitude i like to hear from a starting S

were fine at safety we need depth. another S better in coverage to rotate with Eric Smith. Smith took it to the next level last yr, specifically in the playoffs

hes a raven lifer anything itd cost to pry him away would be too much at this point in his career.

plus as much as we believe everyone has a boner for rex that obviously didnt pan out except for Holmes who left money on the table as opposed to being trapped in WAS. id say thats more him wanting to win than a discount.

Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Eric Smith and am happy he will get his chance, but we no longer have a true free safety. I can't think of anything else Tanny would trade picks for at this point.

If Woody said, "something is in the works." I can see a pass rusher being something they trade for.

    Jericho Cotchery for Victor Butler.

Trust me, the Jets would win on that trade.

Depth on the line? That seems fine to me..

On offense we have Ducasse and Turner as the primary backups.. most teams don't have a guy as good as Turner to fill in on all 3 interior line spots. And if Ducasse develops like they are hoping, he will be a starter sooner rather than later.

On D, at NT we have Pouha and K. Ellis.. at DE, we have DeVito, Wilkerson, Pitoitua, Marcus Dixon and guys like J. Gilbert, Tevesau waiting in the wings. That's not to mention bringing back Shaun Ellis, which is probably pretty likely.

Pass rusher I agree with, but that's a tough spot to fill.

i've been saying that we will make a trade for a WR and a pass rusher... i could see something like this:

    1. Cotch + for a pass rusher

    2. picks for S.Smith (car)

cotch for a pass rusher? A rancid pass rusher maybe. You guys are retarded thinking youre trading a number 3 WR coming off back surgery for any sort of a pass rusher...theres 25 cotcherys in teh league for every 1 good pass rusher
