Most of my TGG time at the moment is via my cell at the moment, so help a brother out please.

We 'lost' out on Aso and in turn 'pissed' off Cro (really??), and with all the stuff on twitter, I'm reading about various top CBs going here and there, are we leaving ourselves open to having a mediocre CB playing oppposite Revis?
IMO Cro is a top 5 CB in the league, and when you have THE most talented CB on your team, you better make sure your number 2 is no slouch.

    My question(s) are these:
    - Have we actually lost Cro now?
    - Do we have the talent at CB within our ranks right now? (don't think so )
    - Are there any other CBs within free agency that are available that could fit into Rex's scheme?

If we give Cromartie big money up front he will relax and not play up to his capeabilities. He just seems like that type of player and I think the Jets and the rest of the NFL know it. Yes he's talented but I sense trouble coming with this guy. Maybe offer him a decent one year contract or just go in another direction.

He is a top NFL CB that deserves his pay day, and someone will pony up for him, hopefully us.
My worry is that any team that has 2 good WRs will just constantly throw away from Revis all day long. Teams tried that last year with Cro, and largely failed.
We do not have a great pass rush, and without very good help at CB, we could be in big trouble.

Yes. A mini-crisis will occur if the Jets lose out on Cromartie. Not much else available.

Yes he is a good CB but look at all the TD passes the Jets gave up last season. Yes teams also will throw away from Revis but is Cromartie really the answer? I realy don't think the Jets want him back all too badly - he does'nt stick his nose in and tackle. He fell asleep on alot of plays last year and teams threw TD passes against him. I don't think the Jets want to spend big money on him - but you might be right and maybe they will.

    1. There is no fucking way in hell Cro qualifies as a top 5 CB in the league.

    2. Rex likes to call man-to-man coverage. You need an athletic CB that is not afraid to get physical. Cro is indeed athletic, but he is a pussy. He doesn't qualify for the job description.

    3. I think it's time to see what Kyle Wilson is made of, actually. Remember, even with the donkey sack that is Lito Sheppard, Jets still dominated the league in defense. Cro is NOT necessary. Especially not with his pussy attitude on field. I really hope he is as good as gone.

The good thing is we don't hear about any other teams going after him. Maybe the Jets are giving him the w/e to get over it and them go after him on MOnday. I wanted Holmes, Cro and either Poole or Eric Smith as a must resign. so far, so good. Like Brad, but please, he was a # 4 reciever and as a kick returner, not worth 15 million. I just hope we don't find someone else to do the wild cat, seems like Schotty used it to take away OUR momentum

Let me see what Wilson is made of as our # 3 CB just in case he's not ready. We fooled teams 3 seasons ago with our schemes, no way we could get away with a Lito Sheppard type player this year. What's his ranking iin the NFL is not my concern, he's our # 2 ranked CB last year. If we had a real off season,, then maybe Wilson but based on his rookie year..... ummm give me another season before I hand him the keys

Octodad is overrated by anybody who claims he is a top level NFL CB. He's good but not great and should be priced accordingly.

A crisis would be revis holding out and Wilson and strickland being the 1-2.

Crisis would be the season starting next Sunday.

FA is still going on. Let's see what happens before we really have to be concerned.

Does anyone here want to warm up to the thought of Kelvin Hayden ? I just don't see us going with what we have a CB, they / we cannot just hope that Wilson is ready. The guys we signed yesterday are nice for depth but none are going to be a # 2 opposite Revis. What is the status of the Ravens CB 's is Carr still unsigned and what of the others I have heard zilch:up:

I thought Carr resigned with Baltimore yesterday. The Jets could make a trade with the eagles to get Samuel

I would test out Wilson, he's in his second year and should be able to handle some pressure at this point. Granted it's a lot of pressure, but this is a 1st round pick with acclaimed coverage abilities you're talking about; it's not like you're putting a UDFA out there. Besides, teams have won with only 1 amazing CB in the past. Don't let Tannenbaum spoil you by building these All-Madden teams.

PS It is damn good to be back and posting football!!

Cromatie is not worth any type of large contract. Would a top cb:

    1) hate tackling
    2) have zero ability to cover small agile wr
    3) be a third down penalty machine

I know Cromartie is very good down the field in coverage, but he is not worth a large contract.

Cro was shaky last year as everyone is saying but does he even have a market . I mean if he come back cheap on a 1-2 year deal it would be perfect . Has anyone heard of him linked to another team yet?

So if Cro is "as good as gone" what do you think the front office spends the money on especially if they dont plan on signing Braylon. I still think we need to upgrade at the safety, OLB positions, add another WR and another CB for depth

the issue is we everyone keeps saying we drafted a DB in the first round alst year lets see what he can do. Or he spent all off season with Revis, that is all fine and dandy but means nothing until he does it game in and game out.

We drafted the next LT in the fuckin cactus and my grandmother has more sacks then he does so being drafted in the first round means nothing.

I am not saying that Cro is the answer, we should have snatched JJ and rode off into the sunset, well that is gone now.

The next option is Cro, Asante(assuming we can trade for him), or Wilson.

If we do not bring Cro back I do not want to hear shit about money with Edwards, they need to go out and resign him and Poole.

If Wilson is going to start we better hope that Pace can rush the passer this year or we trade for a pass rusher such as.....you fill in the blank

If we are going to just go with Wilson, I would like the team to make an announcement, if we are going after another CB then get it done......
