Good to know he's back 100% after having dealt with a bad back the last couple of years... Important news considering our uncertainty at WR. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...-cotchery-returns-to-field-after-back-surgery Finally, Jerricho Cotchery is back on the football field. After five months of laborious rehabilitation from back surgery in February, the New York Jets wide receiver received full medical clearance to practice routes with quarterback Mark Sanchez. Which is exactly what Cotchery got to doing last week at a New Jersey high school field, according to The Star-Ledger. “When you hit a field, you're out there in open space and you've just got to turn it on," Cotchery told the newspaper. "I was able to do that and not be cautious. It felt good to be able to go out there and make cuts and not think about anything." Cotchery told the newspaper that the back specialist who performed his surgery gave him the green light last week to participate fully in training camp once it begins. This is good news for the Jets, who figure to have a dilemma on their hands at wide receiver, with Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards and Brad Smith all due to be free agents once the lockout is lifted. The 29-year-old Cotchery, who had 41 catches for 433 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games last year, has been a staple in the receiving corps during his seven seasons with the Jets. He revealed to the newspaper that his back had been an issue for some time. "The past couple years I’ve been dealing with the back, and you get used to your body not working the right way," said Cotchery, who underwent a microdiscectomy to shave off part of a troublesome herniated disc. "But little things make a huge difference. I’m better equipped moving forward." Cotchery said he feels physically rejuvenated and is prepared to get back to form. "The way the season went last year for me, I’m driven to get back on the field and play the way I'm capable of playing," Cotchery said. "Not having experienced something this significant and not knowing how to battle through it, through the course of a year, was draining for me. I spent a number of hours getting ready physically for the games, and the mental part suffered."
Great to hear good news about a wideout we actually don't have to worry about.
Glad to hear Cotch is doing well. Hopefully with his back healed he'll go back to being the sure-handed WR he was before last season.
wanted to post the video of his touchdown catch vs the pats where he got hit by 2 DB's and didnt fall to the groud got up and scored but i dont have 50 posts then i tried post a picure of the flight boys but I dont have 50 posts yet lol... oh well... nice to hear he is doing good
Cotchery is definitely one of my all time favorite Jets. I always thought he was under-rated as a WR in the NFL. The guy gives us his all every game every season. I hope all the rookies are looking at Jerricho for career advice because he's been a great team player since he's been here. I really hope we can get him a ring soon. The video Zllehs wanted to post was sick and the one that was posted from last season was also classic Jerricho. But I'll never forget this one either.
Cotchery always seems to have a big game against the Pats. I remember in '06 when he caught a pass and got rocked, but landed on top of the defender without touching the ground and got up and scored a TD. Besides a few games last year where he had drop issues, he has been a fantastic player for us.
Here it is: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-...ght-to-J-Cotchery-for-71-yards-TOUCHDOWN-PENA Amazing play, no doubt
EXCELLENT! I still dont know how he stayed up on that play and how Chads knee cap didnt pop and explode into 2 pieces lol
