PEOPLE are bashing a rod cuz hes not playing the way he is capable of.... but of course you turn it around as mets fans being the problem

its not my fault your all star cant throw to first and doesnt hit when it counts....so not matter how you want to turn this around its just not the case and never will be

If Rod was with the Mets and messing up like this, he'd be booed unmerciful by Mets fans.

NP When the season is over regardless of team accomplishments lets see who has better numbers A-Rod or any Met of your choice.

David Wright is having a tremondous year.A-Rod has had tremondous years fly by night fans only expect repeat performances over and over.Once a players falters many phony fans turn on them.Lets see what happens when Wright slumps. New York is a tough venue for any athlete.

your absolutely right....i couldnt agree more....and we will see when that happens....

but the point is A Rod is a great player...one of the best of his time....a winner?? in my mind hes not a winner until he wins a ring....and you can ask any BASEBALL fan that question and youll probably get the same response...

A-Rod as a player is a winner.Hes hit 450 hrs at age 31.He can retire today and be happy with his career. Some players never win rings but are still winners.Like Wayne Chrebet a true sportsman and a WINNER!

wayne chrebet is a winner not because of his stats but because of what he overcame to achieve those stats....

ask a rod if he can retire today and be happy with his career and i can almost guarentee you he will say not until i win a ring....at least thats an answer anyone with a winners mentality would give....

and that does not make arod a winner that makes him a very accomplished player....not a winner

Are you illiterate? I found one outright insult to A-Rod in this thread, and it was from a Yankee fan. FITM, 3rdand15, and myself have all actually made the case FOR Rodriguez in this thread.

A rod is a great player and puts up great numbers. His numbers are even pretty good even though he's having a "bad year" so far. but right now, with all the injuries we have,we need him to come through in big spots, and help carry this team. He fails to do so time after time. I don't dislike the guy and I don't want him to be traded etc,but he is undeniably not living up to his status. Good for him and his numbers, but for crying out loud,be a contributing factor to wins, not loses.

If A-Rod was playing for the Mets, he would be booed just like he is now. It's not because of the fans either. It's the media.

A-Rod doesn't hit in the clutch? That's funny, I could swear I saw him hit a walk-off homer right before the All-Star break. Like I said in my last post, he has either touched home, or drove in the go-ahead run three times since the All-Star break.

I think a lot of this "can't hit in the clutch" stems from last year's playoffs. The weight of the series was all on A-Rod's poor performance. Yes, he did not play like the best player in the game, but neither did anyone else. The Yankees were dominated as a team. But A-Rod, with his pretty contract, takes all of the blame.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, everyone slumps. Is he playing poorly at third? Well, that depends who you ask. Sure, he has a lot of errors, but he has also made some ridiculously fantastic plays as well. Those don't show up in the boxscore though, so they never matter.

NY is a "what have you done for me lately" town. The media needs stories to sell papers. We have 4 major papers in the city. (Times, Newsday, Daily News, and Post.) Each of them is fighting for readers. We also have 6 nightly news channels. (2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11) That's a lot of fighting for stories. It's always easier to pick on A-Rod or Lastings Milledge when they underperform. Why talk about Jeter or Wright? They are playing successfully. No one can say anything bad about those guys.

I'm tired of A-Rod collecting stats, if he's a Yankee long enough to break Aaron's record I may never closely follow baseball again. Something BAD needs to happen to Steinbrenner.
