Not a sweep (yet), but 5 two-out runs leads to a win, and the Mets being 3 games over .500 for the first time in almost a year.
Wow...another nice win. Getting big 2 out hits...Beltran playing great. All without Reyes, which is surprising, but, of course, nice to see. Importantly, beating a team that's scuffling with a lineup that's having a hard time getting hits (except for Kemp) is also great to see.
Technically, Beltran scored on a WP also with 2 outs (Cohen kept missing that), so all their runs were with 2 outs.
Yeah, that was odd. I guess it didn't count as a two-out hit, but I was pretty sure he was wrong. This team is still fun to watch. If Santana and Wright can contribute by August, this team might be pretty exciting. Especially if Reyes is okay, and Bay gets going a little. Imagine a productive and healthy Santana pitching every fifth day.
Cohen's usually spot on so I'll give him a pass. lol When Duda, Tejada and Turner (who's been in a little bit of a slump lately) get your 2-out hits, that's a great sign. I don't know what's going to become of this season, especially with Philly and the Braves never losing, but you can tell these guys really enjoy playing with each other and for Collins. I gotta say, I was very skeptical of the Collins hire, but, apparently, he was exactly what this team needed. And, I think keeping Warthen with this pitching staff and keeping Chip Hale on the coaching staff cannot be understated.
We win again.... Almost every hitter is contributing this year which is making the difference , Tejada actually looks a mlb player now compered to a scared kid last yr when he was rushed. Also keep an eye on Familia and Harvey at St Lucie AA , these two have the talent and repertoire to be in the mlb in two years as SP.
It's official...Reyes to 3 week DL http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=6746192 Again the cynic in me, sees this as a ploy to make the Mets into sellers. Yes, i get hamstring injuries and the fact they can nag. And truthfully, i am all for the rest on a hamstring injury. It just seems that Wright and davis are taking an awful long time to recover. The news on Santana is promising to an extent. I suppose if it was a real ploy to sink the Mets far enough out of the playoff race, Niese and Dickey would have been held out of starts for their conditions. Amazingly, Beltran and Krod have no injuries to speak of, although you can tell that Beltran still has trouble putting the brakes on while fielding as evident in RF play in LA the past few nites (double by the foul line). Also, does this signal the Mets are going to put their prized possession on "ice" for a few weeks to let him heal and have him all healthy to pass some other teams physical?? OK, I will take the tin foil off my head and not let the paranoia get to me anymore than it has. The beautiful part of what has happened is that players on the field are playing well enough to make the Wilpons sweat it out. Lets hope for a sweep tonite!
The same idiot umpire who made the ridiculously bad call at first base yesterday now makes a ridiculously bad call at the plate as Bay throws the runner out and he's called safe. How can this moron be a major league umpire? 1-0 Dodgers.
Missed the call last nite but this one seemed obvious. Ump got it wrong. Gee made a poor choice/throw and that did not help either.
Was it Phil Cuzzi or Laz Diaz or Angel Hernandez? Those guys are nitwits. I haven't watched a single play in this series. My son broke the clicker to the TV in my computer room months ago. I'm not interested in clicking from 207 to 639. I like it like this. I'm not going in another room to watch the game. Also, I will now go to sleep.
