    Osi Umenyiora says promises broken

    By Adam Schefter

he was looking for a top 5 DE contract in 2008. No way he could be looking for that now. I would try and get this guy, but I doubt the Giants would want to do business with us.

Yes yes the Jets run a 3/4, but seriously we run tons of different shit. He would be able to fit into our system. If he is healthy, and even when he hasnt been the past year and a half, hes been a freak.

    btw

Lesean McCoy calling Osi soft LOL

What would it take to get this guy? And would the Giants do a trade with us, without trying to rip us off? I'm thinking it might take a 2nd rounder to get him.. or two 3's.

I don't envision the Giants and Jets doing a trade together.

yeah. we would have to overpay to get him. but who knows. tanny could put something attractive with a draft pick, and some sort of role player we have.

I'm not interested in Osi on the Jets. The guy has never played standing up and Shady pretty much said everything that needs to be said about his demeanor, at least as far as the running game is concerned. We could get just as much, if not more, production from OLB by resigning Jason Taylor. Probably for less money as well.

The other thing is that I agree with McCoy. I never thought Umenyiora was a top player. It's better than average and a worthwhile starter, but I don't think it would be a big deal to get him.

i highly disagree with that. we run so many packages on defense, he doesnt need to stand up. he needs to beeline to the QB. We could also play alot more coverage schemes with him going after the QB.

also Osi is to make 3mil a year for the 2 years remaining on his contract.

im not sure if it was him who was outspoken about coughlin, but you know he would have the time of his life here playing for Rex.

It's amazing to me that the New York Jets are considered the Big Apple loudmouths. All I seem to remember about Big Blue is Archie Manning bitching and moaning about the Chargers, Tiki Barber bitching and moaning about the Giants' leadership, Michael Strahan bitching and moaning about training camp, Osi Umenyiora bitching and moaning about his contract and Justin Tuck bitching and moaning about the Jets' confidence.

Umenyiora is as hot-and-cold a player as there is in this league. He's still trying to get paid like a perennial all-pro for his six-sack game against the Eagles four years ago. Good luck with that, Osi.

i dont think anybody besides Al Davis is going to give him his ridiculous contract he is looking for right now. plus he still has 2 years left on the contract, but we know from experience..that doesnt mean much(revis although he is top at his position)

dunno i think Osi would would be able to help us out alot. especially with pouha, kenrick on the field at the same time. plus devitos big fat ass.

The problem here is Osi did not get what he thought his deal was put into a contract. Hence there was no legally enforceable agreement. Yeah, Reese was probably a scumbag and a trickster, and I have no love for the Giants. But the reality is they would pay him now if he was worth it, and they must not think he's worth all that much.

Whether he would fit on the Jets is interesting, perhaps, but too much would have to happen to make that work, and whether it's a good thing at what price, to make it worth talking about much now, particularly since we still dont; know if there's going to be football this year.

Can he play at OLB? Or is he strictly a down lineman?
