According to ESPN.com, the Jets' training camp begins 7/20. Wow, this thursday! I love it. Football season is virtually upon us as far as I'm concerned. I'll be closely paying attention to the Jets camp. I'm very curious as to how Mangini does things...ricky williams
Upon closer inspection, it lists the rookies report on 7/20 but the rest of the squad is due to report on 7/27. Oh well, within a few weeks we'll at least have some pre-season games to watch. I can't stand when the media poo poos the pre-season as meaningless... As far as I'm concerend, a lot of stuff is worth watching in the pre-season.
Yea! I'm really looking forward to it! Already paid off my Sunday Ticket bill. Did anyone see where NFL network is running all preseason games? Hubby said something to me about it but I haven't seen anything.
I think I read in a story about Clemens that Mangini asked that all rookies to show up a week earlier than the 28th to bond, so sometime around the 20th or 21st. Not sure how that will work out if none are signed, however.
Yeah, from Hutchinsons story earlier this week. "Veterans will report to camp at Hofstra University on July 27 and their first practice is the next day. ... Mangini has asked rookies to report a week early, on July 20. He wants those players to spend the extra time together and form a bond as a group. "
They did it last year too. But only a few games are live. Most of them are tape delayed since alot of games take place at the same time. You may have to wait a couple of days to watch the Jets on the NFL network. Sometimes they are sceduled in the middle of the night. One more good reason for TiVO. DbJ
DBJ is correct. Also an interesting sidenote, as I have to watch the games on NFL network living in Denver: they rotate the television announcers by half on the NFL Network. So you get Ian Eagle for half the game, and then the opponent's announcers during the other half. I heard Archie Manning when the Jets played New Orleans in Vilma's rookie year. By the way, whatever happened to Spencer Ross. Is he still on the air in New York. I think he used to do preseason with Namath. Or am I imagining that?
Spencer Ross is still around, I believe lately he has been doing the Knicks games on 1050 ESPN radio. Oh and yes for many years he did the Jet preseason games and was joined by Namath for a couple of those years...
How can rookies report to camp if they are unsigned? I am wondering if some of them are signed already, but they are going to announce them all at once.
