Does anyone know if he will be ready for the start of camp. If he is ready, will he be able to throw most or all of the different routes? And, will the Jets be able to protect whoever is playing QB? Because in one game both Pennington and Fielder were lost for the season because the line could not protect them.
You're asking alot man. These are the same questions we had going into last year too. That's the crux of the problem with Pennington. Lately, we have this question every damn start of the year and its pretty damn old.
Until I see him perform on the field effectively for at least a few weeks in a row, I'm assuming he's done.
I don't think he will start the season. And I don't think he should...unless of course he is as recovered as he is gonna get and also can win the position. Eric does not have to have the loyalty to Chad that Herm did, and as a rookie head coach he needs to do what he can to keep his job with a team that does not show alow of promise right now. In my mind, despite the poor mini camp performance, the favourite to start right now has to be Ramsey. He is healthy and experienced, it only makes sense. Of course that can all change very quickly in the coming weeks.
Q: "Will Chad Pennington be ready for camp?" 8-ball: "You may rely on it" So that's that settled. Unless the 8-ball misheard my question as "Will Chad Pennington suffer from cramps?"
I highly doubt Clemens gets the starting job. I am 100% sure Bollinger won't. He won't even make the team. Alot of questions about Pennington right now. If he performs well he will start. Hard to say he will though, thus the job would go to the man who just wants a chance. Patrick Ramsey.
whats so silly about assuming hes done? the man is never on the field. after each injury the likeliness of his being done increases. I too, think hes done
Actually, I think it was smart to keep him. He may beat all odds and make it back. If he could, there is no doubt he gives the team the best chance to win. They're pretty long odds, though. I'd be stunned if he did it.
He participated in mini camps.. Yes, after 2 torn rotator cuffs to ASSUME HE'S DONE is silly. To be skeptical may not be , but to just toss him aside without seeing a thing is silly.
I think if Pennington comes back and posts solid staring calibre numbers the achievement will be greater than that of TO in the Superbowl off a broken leg, but will receive less fanfare and be generally talked down as opposed to up. Just how I feel it would go down.
Alot of people handing TO Comeback Player of the Year before the season begins .... if Pennington comes back & lasts the season with any sort of success that award should be his.
I believe it's worthwhile to see how he can perform, but I hold no expectations that he'll actually be able to perform at an acceptable level. As for the minicamps, his complete lack of velocity on his throws was documented by more then one writer.
The real question should be: How will he hold up after he receives a major league hit in the area where he was previously injured?
