Just watched the RB scout report on NYJETS.COM and looking at Curtis and his sweet slashing moves and thought how none of the other backs have that same ability ,(yet).
What type of runner do you prefer a quick slashing runner able to change direction in a flash or a speedster in the mould of Tomlinson , or maybe a headsdown back who just meets defenders head on?

i've always like really quick backs,
gettin away from a tackler is better than breaking a tackler

I like one of each... but if i had to choose one, I would go with bruiser. You want big plays, throw the ball. You want to win games, consistently pound the ball and play D.

I think you either gotta be a slasher or a bruiser, speed alone is doesnt make a runningback great. Point being its hard to outrun 11 guys. Speed is like a bonus for runningbacks IMO.

I like hard nosed runners with 4.4 speed and Curtis Martin (in 2002) moves.

I appreciate both. The one thing about a slasher is, you really never know what is going to happen next; a quick change in direction and all of a sudden he is in the secondary running with abandon. Really gets you fired up.

On the same token, the power back is like a one-man wrecking ball. Pretty much a straight line runner that delivers incredible punishment to a defense. A good power back can totally wear a D out by the 4th quarter. He always seems to get those tough yards consistently on 3rd and 3's or 4's and keeps moving the chains in almost a monotonic fashion. This does get results, though, and is a huge part of the game.

I like the bruiser because in the second half when the D is getting tired the big guy can just ram it down their throats.....in a nice cold weather playoff game the bruiser seems to be the way to go as well
