actually all that dumbass Beli was able to trade Matt Cassel for was a second rounder and he had to throw a starting linebacker into the deal to make it happen and to make things worse, he used that pick to draft the famed "fake punt" specialist Pat Chung. and for that to happen Brady had to have his knee torn up and Cassel won 11 games another draft failure by Bill Botch a Pick so the idea by the espn tapeheads that the cokehead from Arkansas was going to sit on the bench and "learn from the great Brady" and then be auctioned off for multiple first round picks is ludicrous and another example of how they all have their tongues up Beli's sphincter
Wilkerson and Ellis may turn out to be good NFL players but I wouldn't count on it. Wilkerson dominated in college, big deal, did you see who Temple played? Hampton's schedule was even more of a joke. Vlad Ducasse dominated at UMass and he's well on his way to being a bust. Granted, many of the leagues biggest stars went to small schools but more often than not small school studs don't cut the mustard. With small school players, it's not wise to beat your chest until you see how they do against real football players. BTW, I also think the Pats draft was a C at best. As for Mallett, Brady plays out his contract, asks Kraft to trade him to a West Coast team and he finishes out his career in his home state and lives in that gigantic mansion he and his wife had built. The time is now to groom a repacement.
Who wrote that? I don't know who the writers are for Sporting News but I have been listening to guys on NFL Radio who have actually been there, guys like Pat Kirwan and Ross Tucker, guys with credibility when it comes to football, and they're saying the Pats were among the worst in the draft.
i rarely get too fired up about this stuff but whoever wrote that should have the crotch kicked in. what an absolutely terrible assessment every way you could cut it. i am almost amazed at the absurdity of it... someone please tell me its a joke! to think someone got paid to spew that out really bothers me, its one thing to be a homer its another thing to be a complete douche homer.
Clifton Brown from the sporting news was on Joe and Evan...not sure if he's the same hack that gave these grades but he also hated our draft, and wants to 69 belichick. Here are the highlights from the interview: Ellis should be in Rikers and Ryan Mallet will be the next Aaron Rodgers
I always hate how people grade drafts. Yeah, we didn't have a 2nd round pick. That doesn't mean we should get a lower grade. By that token, the Patriots will get an A+ every year because they always have the most picks. As a Jets fan, I love what the Pats did. An overrated OT, a couple dime a dozen RBs, a decent corner, and some random depth guys. Their biggest need they didn't address at all. While you can say the Jets didn't improve the pass rush either, they at least got some D-Linemen who can help, either by penetrating themselves or taking up blockers.
Agreed! From all the outlets I'm reading and listening to NFL Sirius, I'm hearing the same consensus. Not too sure about the Jets draft...as in middle of the road, not too bad, not super outstanding either. But to a man they have all said that the Patriots draft was downright not good...in fact top 5 not good. They all seem fine with the first 2 picks but from there on out nothing that made any sense. I mean, how do you go into the draft with pass rusher as your number 1 need...have 12 picks and come away with not one...not even a late round pick just to tickle the idea. Personally, I think Wilkerson will be fine. He has the speed and size to do well with the right coaching. Ellis...well, if he can get by the legal issues I can't imagine him being all that bad either, but time will tell. This idiot writer knows not what he says. :shit:
