McCourty is sure as hell not an all pro. When he starts having 0 interceptions because qb's dont bother throwing at him, then you can talk about him being an all-pro. And unlike McCourty who had to play because the other cb's the Pats had sucked, Wilson was never going to be more than the 3rd cb anyway. As for Woodhead, lets take it easy with him. I still dont think the Jets missed out on much. He had a big year, but I doubt he can do it again. And what we saw last year was his ceiling.
Good game manager, very accurate and intelligent. Nice traits to have for a backup in case something happens to Mark.
So I guess it's , roll tide? anyway, I like this kid, shit anything is better than the bums we have now at back up. Except maybe Brunell.
Like I said in the draft thread, in my time watching GMAC at Bama, I only saw 2 that bothered me with him: 1) He sometimes overthinks the play, which hinders the ability of a play happening. 2) He protects his personal statistics, he takes sacks instead of throwing the ball away. Said his completion percentage was the most important thing to him. That said, he should be a great backup for the Jets...
You got that right--Bellichicken would not have used TWO second round picks on RB this year if Woodhead was their future--I doubt he's even on the Pats in a year or two.
I'm waiting for some insider information from IncarceratedBob. "Jets drafted McElroy because dey are planning to cut Sanchez!!! U HEARD IT HERE FIRST!"
Ainge is done playing football from what i've heard and Brunell is 100 so this is a pretty nice pick up for us,IMO.
Though his comments were harsh, they aren't entirely inaccurate. I wouldn't doubt that Rex Ryan drafted McElroy for reasons other than his ability. There is no doubt he will make a serviceable backup, but Rex might have chosen him over others for reasons other than his play on the field. Rex wants his son to play for Nick Saban, more to learn from him than to actually ever see the field. This could have been a you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours move. Still he's a good QB and "ain't never been nothin but a winner."
Does anyone know if the ESPN interview with Mcelroy is still available on line? My mate saw it and he couldnt believe how smart and polished this kid was - he said it was like listening to them interview some 10 yr vet the way he carredi himself.
