I hope we get him, but am now hearing he may move up to the low-20's.

Our last 2 high-defensive picks (Robinson, Ghoulston) have been bad. We gotta hope Taylor is the real thing.

Anyone know one of the fastest rising players in the top 32 since the combine???

    It's Phil Taylor.

Haven't we learned a good lesson about measurables from the 2008 combine??

    His weight..up & down is a concern.

Taylor did have a good Senior Bowl week, his production at Baylor was decent, nothing spectacular.

    Buyer Beware!!!

    1) We are not picking high..

    2) You just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

    3) I highly doubt this guy is the "real thing". There are so many better players then this guy. OVER RATED

I don't think the Jets could draft anybody else that would piss me off, like if we were to select, Taylor. EDIT* In the first round. We move back, get some extra picks, it's a different story.

    I swear.

would not mind Phil Taylor. Worth taking a risk in 1st round on DT beast than a DE to OLB conversion.

Phil Taylor's not overrated, I'm just in the camp that feels like a nose tackle shouldn't be a high pick.

Taylor's going to get the job done in the NFL, so if he is the pick, I won't be too upset. At least we'll have some youth on our defensive line.

I'd say Brooks Reed rose more than Phil Taylor.

I feel like every pick can be given the "Buyer Beware" label.

The bust value with Taylor isn't that high. It's his job to be fat and take up space - injuries are really the only thing that will stop him from being an affective nose tackle.

If that report about the foot problem hadn't surfaced, I'd consider this a very, very safe pick. I don't see Tannenbaum making the "safe" pick.

In a relatively weak nose tackle class, Taylor's head and shoulders above the rest. If the front office feels like that's our biggest weakness, then they'll probably take him.

Reed isn't even in most Top 32 predictions.

Injuries could be a major factor brought on by weight.

I wouldn't hate the Taylor pick, just think we may have better options.

    Brooks Reed, Jabaal Sheard.

    Wouldn't want either.

I like the idea of getting a young NT, but I don't like all the red flags with Taylor. So.... yeah.

Both would be slight reaches at #30, especially Sheard.

I disagree. He has jumped up the draft boards like crazy, and he shouldn't be this high up on draft boards. There is not a lot of depth in this draft at NT, and he is benefiting from that alone. You throw in the fact that he is one of the few with the right size for the 3-4 NT position, it only helps his stock that much more.

His production in college was not anything to get excited about. He had one decent year, not even a good year at Baylor. He has numerous red flags, he wasn't all that productive in college, and he was considered a third - fourth rounder at best prior to the senior bowl, right?

That is something of concern. All of that to me is being over rated, his skill set does not warrant him in the first round. These experts are acting as if I should be getting excited for a guy that isn't even dominate at his position but because he has the size you look for at the position he should be a first rounder.

    Nah, I'm not buying it.

You shouldn't expect nose tackles to be super productive especially when it comes to statistics.

It was his job to let others make plays.

Didn't say that, referenced Ghoulston and Robertson.

    Why specifically don't you like Taylor ? Everybody agrees he's a legit #1 pick...quality NT....'poor man's' Hagata....what do you see ?

So many still left at pick # 30 ???

Again...what is it about Taylor that is setting you off ???

I'm not a fan of Taylor in the 1st, but it would upgrade more than just one position allowing Pouha to move over like the plan was with Jenkins.

Unless we get a Kyle Wilson like fall my #1 option is still a trade back.

Seen him as 1st rounder since January and the 1st Mock Drafts.

Would you be OK picking him in the 2nd round with the Jets pick slot ?

If Taylor is the best player available when we're on the clock, we need to trade back.

No, I agree. My point is, if we were to go this route, I would want somebody that was going to be a dominate presence on our line. Kris Jenkins like. I do not see Phil Taylor being anything equivalent to Kris Jenkins.

The direction we go, should have more value. At our selection, he surely wont be the BPA. IMO

His skill set doesn't have me thrilled, his character and off the field issues, and these reports of his foot are something I just can't look past. He already has endurance issues, he's a big man, and something like that with a guy that big is something that will only make his production worse.

No way is he a consensus first round pick. He is not a quality NT, he is the best left over NT in a really poor NT draft class.

Poor man's Nagata? Ummm.. Not even close.

I see someone that is more comparable to Howard Green then Haloti Nagata.
