I hate Cimini...but this article was interesting. I think Tanny may trade up at the draft for a guy like Corey Liuget or Aldon Smith....we'll find out what happens in 2 days. link to article
I don't believe Tanny will make any giant leaps (not enough ammo)....but a trade ahead of the Pats to grab someone like Smith, Liuget or Quinn (if they happen to slide) isn't out of the realm of possibility. If he trades up for Phil Taylor......I'll punch a baby.
What a tough draft this is going to be, we have all our own FA's and we did not plug any holes with other teams. I would draft the best player on my board, period, not knowing what my needs are. Can the Jets draft a WR in the first rd.? If so, how can you sign Holmes, Edwards and Smith? Crazy
I rarely have any "Ditka" players, but I'll make an exception for this year: if Robert Quinn makes it into the teens, I want him. Just a thought regarding trading up, how many more players did we really need last year to get to the Super Bowl? Obviously a pass rusher, maybe a D-lineman or a safety. Not a lot so I wouldn't be all that surprised if Tanny trades away a future pick to get an impact player.
Definitely agree with this. I think teams are afraid to trade future picks because of the uncertainty going around, but one thing Tanny is not, is gunshy. If he thinks he can move up and get a guy like Quinn by dealing next year's 1st rounder in a package, I think he does it.
I honestly think trader Mike might reverse his thinking and agressively trade down and acquire more picks for this draft. Thats what the situation calls for. If he already signed some top free agents and the Jets only had one or 2 holes to plug then he trades up. The situation here calls for more picks in my opinion - but trading next years 2nd rounder does'nt bother me - I just think this team needs a decent amount of talented rookies to fight for spots and fill a few needs.
Uh, NO.... there are WAY to many teams who need him and in the last week is stock has increased alot. I had him at 32 to the packs but realize that there are too many 4-3 teams that need his services. With 2 DTs who should be at the 4-3 spot taken in the top 10 he is the next best tackle.
This overanalysis of Tanny's drafting philosophy fucking bores me. The guy has a system that works. Its high risk/reward, but the whole scouting dept. - not just Tanny, clearly is one of the best in the league. Wooden, Joey Clinks, Terry Bradway, Mike Davis, and Scott Cohen clearly are an elite team. I never want to lose Joey Clinkscales in this FO, but someday he's going to be a GM or an assistant GM for another team, and that's going to suck the big one for us. I'd give all 4 limbs to learn what Joey knows. They're system works. Leave it the hell alone. And 2010 was a fucking depth draft. If you don't understand that, don't worry - there are members on this board who can inform you of what's going on with this team.
