    32. New York Jets
Curtis Martin is 33, and the inevitable decline phase of his career hit him like a ton of bricks in 2005. Running backs just don't rebound from the kind of season Martin had last year. It's time for the young Jets to step up, but there's not much there. Derrick Blaylock failed to accomplish much of anything in his first year with the team, and rookie Cedric Houston was mediocre. Veteran fullback Jerald Sowell is gone, replaced with B.J. Askew, who has very little experience aside from special teams. It will be easier going for the backs behind first-round offensive linemen D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold, but by midseason the Jets may find themselves wishing they had found a way to get Reggie Bush. The Official Football Outsiders Favorite Rookie, fullback Nick Hartigan, has a better chance of making the roster with New York than just about any other team in the league.

Gotta agree with it. Martin is almost done, though I think he can get 1000 yards if we limit his carries a little to avoid injury. Problem is, 1000 yards ain't what it used to be.

They also forgot to mention Leon Washington, who could be our saving grace.
I am of the opinion that Blaylock and Houston are not as good as people make them out to be and will never be more than career backups.

I could see Hartigan making the team, but it would be as a backup fullback so his production will certainly be minimal.

I think we don't have a feature back but we have 4 capable backs of producing and by committee we should have a decent running game and if Curtis emerged to have a 1,200-13,000 season I wouldn't be shocked. I never count the guy out.

Only until Matt Leinart starts for the Cardinals, then it will be Leinart.

Well, if Curtis manages 13,000 yards this season, I'd certainly be shocked...;)

The running back by committee is the only thing the Jets can do in 2006 -Too many holes and they did the right thing in this draft by re-stocking the OL. Look for a very high - possibly a 1st rounder for a feature RB in 2007....

Running back should be the last piece added due to their exceptionally short careers and learning curves.

You can usually plug a rookie RB right in and let him play (Cadillac and Ronnie Brown) but they might only last 7-8 years. Therefore we better make sure we get our WRs set and get a rush LB before we spend big $$ on a RB, even if they would be the biggest upgrade available.

As boring as this may sound, I really think the focus of the year will be on the play of our offensive line, and potentially, Clemens if he gets playing time.

As far as Reggie Bush goes. It may be a blessing that we went the way we did. Without the line the guy may have been seriously injured by mid-year......who knows. We needed a foundation first. I hope D'Brick and Mangold pan out. That is what is important.

This is just about the most ridiculous thing I have read yet. Apparently, the writer is unaware that the guy was playing on a busted knee for the better part of the season.
