Honestly, I wouldn't hate it. As much as I love Sanchez, he's had a few minor injuries along the way, and this is with the best OL in the NFL. If the Jets think Dalton is a stud, maybe he slips to round 3 and we grab him. I feel the team is so scared of Sanchez getting hurt right now we won't let him run at all. His mobility and legs are a really good part of his game.

That said, I would definitely prefer grabbing young help elsewhere than QB and getting a better veteran backup than Brunell.

Andy Dalton is predicted to go between picks 25 and 35.

If we draft a backup quarterback before the sixth or seventh round, IMO it will be a waste.

The Jets are trying to artificially inflate his stock, so other teams who want him will be worried someone else will take him in the mid thirties. Think outside the box.

Either that or the Jets are implementing the 2 QB offense.

The Jets worked out Jeremy Kerley, WR, TCU the same day they had Dalton (TCU) come in for a visit.

Connect the dots, Dalton threw to Kerley who the Jets have shown major interest.

    And the answer is here.

If anyone even thinks Dalton is a possibility to this team, doubt your cognitive ability.

The Colts worked out Sanchez in 09.

I am under the same beliefs that the NFL is very, very cosmic. I believe in the football gods. I believe in how this sport and league has these intangible, unwritten rules that govern over everything that is written.

However, this is a little too far into the zealotry of the cosmos for me.

I like Dalton, and I think he can have a good career.

But because he's a redhead he can't do well? Jeez. I'd rather the coach say his lack of experience under center is a major concern.

Hair color is not just out there in left field, its behind the fence in left field.

its kind of insane yes, but when you think about it, how many redheads are even in the NFL? can't be more than a handful, and too my knowledge there has never been a redheaded star in the NFL....

But there was also the stigma that a black QB couldnt make it, because the white guy needed to play it. Then along comes Mcnabb, and Vick... Stigma's just like records, are there to be broken. You just have to wait long enough for the right guy to come along and break it. Will Dalton be that guy? I have no idea, but he has a much better chance than most people since he will be drafted...

According to wiki approximately 1% to 2% of the human population has red hair. So yea, let's make crazy assumptions that the red hair has something to do with people being NFL stars.

well 10% of the population is left handed, and to date the NFL has only had a handful of successful left handed QBs.

The first part of my post was sarcasm/joke/not serious

but like I said, stigmas are made to be broken, just like records. All it takes is one.

While Sanchez does still have a lot to learn, he doesn't necessarily need to be learning it from a veteran backup. The coaching staff and Matt Cavanaugh (the Jets QB's coach) should be more than capable of helping him progress as an NFL quarterback. If Brunell is that instrumental to Sanchez's development I wouldn't be against him coming back in a coach/advisory role to help Mark develop. Heck he could even help Dalton develop if the Jets decided that they were serious about him. My point is that I would rather have a player who is capable of producing on the field rather than have a backup whose main purpose is to be a mentor. If we're gonna use him as a mentor, then bring him in as one and don't waste a roster spot on him.

Pats are looking as well, they have to get Brady's replacement in an ready sooner or later. By the time this season starts he'll be 34. Tom will likely play just a few more years, even though he did say he wants to play until he's 40.

I guess with the way they protect quarterbacks these days it's not that far of a stretch.

Not sure about that....Doug Williams...? Randal Cunningham? Steve McNair? Warren Moon?

    All before Vick and Mcnabb...

I think the Jets are in a prime spot for a team trying to trade up and get a guy like Dalton, or Ponder, or one of the other fringe 1st round qb's. Some team picking early in the 2nd might make a pretty sweet offer that will be hard for Tanny to turn down.

Of course, it might also be hard to turn down Rex demanding to keep the pick and take a player high on their board at that spot.. whether it's Taylor, Wilkerson, Ayers or whomever.

I was thinking of it more along the lines of the moron's comments, his name escapes me, but he got canned from ESPN almost the next day, for saying everyone loved Mcnabb as a QB because they were so desperate for a black QB to succeed...

But obviously those guys came first, Moon in particular was amazing. Mcnair I never thought was a top teir player, he just did some things really well, not good enough to be at the top of his era, but still pretty damn good.
