A position that hasn't been discussed a lot this off-season is CB.
While we were pretty stacked in 2010 things can change this year... Cromartie might not be back, we might not be able to re-sign Coleman and (I hope) Lowery might make the switch to full-time FS.
If we are going to lose either Cro or Coleman I think it would make sense to consider CB a position of need going into the draft... not the most pressing need (ergo not something to address in rd 1) but if good value presents itself in the later rounds why not. Also keep in mind the only things Rex likes more than feet are CBs.

With that in mind do you guys have any names of interesting players that might be available in rd 3 and later?

If Cro leaves I wouldn't mind looking at Johnny Patrick from Louisville in rd 3... if Coleman leaves Kendric Burney from North Carolina could be an option... also I wonder how high DeMarcus Van Dyke from Miami (fastest player at the combine) will go.

PS On a related note... do you think Marquice Cole is still only a ST guy or has he earned some time on D too? He did pretty well at the end of the year...

I can't speak for the draft stuff, I have no idea. I haven't given up on Wilson. I think getting him out of the slot will help.

I also can't speak with any authority on the players you mention. What I will say is that I hope the Jets don't have a situation were they are having to consider drafting a CB or two. There are likely to be enough new faces in the front 7 (2 or 3). A similar situation in the secondary wouldn't be good at all.

I would like to think the Jets will be able to get Cro and Coleman back and maintain some sense of stability in the secondary, but as the original post indicates there is uncertainty as to whether or not that is possible.

I think their is a chance both Patrick and Burney are going to be unavailable at the end of round 3

I haven't given up on Wilson either... I just think, given the importance of CBs for Rex he wouldn't be satisfied with having only Revis, Cromartie, Wilson, Cole or even worse Revis, Wilson, Coleman, Cole.
IF we manage to keep both Cromartie and Coleman around then we might not draft a CB but if we lose one of the two I can see us looking for someone either in the draft or in FA.

I'm also assuming Lowery moves full time to FS which is anything but a given... it could also be we draft a FS (or we roll with Pool/E. Smith) and move Lowery back to the nickel/dime back role...

Agreed... I was just throwing out some names to start the debate... who do you think could be available in rd 3/4?

My bad... I keep forgetting about that... too bad Bailey re-signed with the Broncos... he would've been a kick ass nickel with Revis and Aso.

I've heard some good things about Buster Skrine and Rashad Carmichael, but I'm sure their are other options
