That's the role he was brought in to play. He was an end in four man fronts and occasionally he'd drop into coverage in disguised packages. The guy may have lost a step, but he's more versatile and cheaper than Thomas. That's my argument. I feel like he's a better option for us, but only if we bring in a young pass rusher. If not, we'll be stuck with The Cactus again.
I'm talking about in a 3 man front. But that would just add to his versatility you're arguing for. If we get a pass rushing olb in the first I wouldn't be opposed to it.
They're from profootballfocus.com but it's paid subscription stuff so I don't feel good about posting it-sorry.
I'm going to call bullshit unless you post those numbers. It just doesn't make too much sense that a rotational guy has more snaps than a starter.
It does not surprise me at all to hear that Taylor got more snaps than Thomas, I def. recall seeing Taylor on the field pretty much all the time. Taylor was really good against the run (probably just as good as Thomas was) and naturally has better pass rushing ability than Thomas so it makes sense that he would be on the field more than Thomas (or since it's only 16 snaps might as well call it the same)
Christ you're a pain. Why on earth would I make them up? Well here's the link. http://www.profootballfocus.com/data/cstats.php?tab=by_team&season=2010&teamid=22&stype=a&stats=d I cut and pasted and edited the players and snap, it's a pain LB David Harris 1212 DB Antonio Cromartie 1118 LB Bart Scott 1047 DB Darrelle Revis 1040 DB Brodney Pool 961 DL Shaun Ellis 832 LB Calvin Pace 821 DB Jim Leonhard 739 LB Jason Taylor 730 LB Bryan Thomas 714 DB Eric Smith 705 DL Mike Devito 697 DL Sione Pouha 683 DB Drew Coleman 595 DB Dwight Lowery 432 DB Kyle Wilson 348 DL Trevor Pryce 260 DL Vernon Gholston 252 DB Marquice Cole 135 DB James Ihedigbo 120 DL Marcus Dixon 44 DL Howard Green 42 LB Josh Mauga 38 DL Matt Kroul 35 LB Jamaal Westerman 32 DL Jarron Gilbert 22 DB Emanuel Cook 20 DL Martin Tevaseu 17 DB Isaiah Trufant 11 DL Robert Turner 6 DL Kris Jenkins 5 LB Lance Laury 5
Robert Turner had way more than six snaps on the defensive line. He was a better nose tackle than Sione Pouha.
He played on the Dline on some goal line plays this year?..... Getting Snaps over Kroul, so if your trying to make a smart remark your wrong.
I was kidding around. You should probably create an account with the username: Isaiah Trufant's Mom and compliment yourself for not understanding sarcasm.
So lets break this down, you bash people constantly for either A) kidding around over a stat or B) misplacement of words yet now you are looking for the old, oh I WAS KIDDING! The exact statement you bust peoples balls for. Oh, the irony. Anyway back on topic for the sake of the Mods. I think MG is right, demanding that many snaps from a rookie could be a bit dangerous. Signing a guy back like Taylor or picking up a vet FA might not be a bad Idea, especially on the mentor spectrum.
I agree. While it's nice that Taylor changed his tune about the Jets, he costs too much. That $2.5 million could go a long way towards bringing in a player or maybe even two players who could contribute a lot more than Taylor did. If they want to bring him back as an assistant coach or a consultant during TC, fine. But I'd rather have his snaps going to younger players so they can develop. The one scenario where I'd be ok with bringing Taylor back is if he is willing to come back with a cheaper deal and the Jets release Bryan Thomas.
That really sucks about Jenkins. I wish he wasn't so injury prone. Cutting Gholston on the other hand... good riddance. Guy made like 1 play in 3 years with the team.
There's a been a few reports about Jenkins coming back to the Jets on a one year, inexpensive deal. ...I'd rather get young on the defensive line, but I wouldn't be against bringing Jenkins back. I've heard that the Redskins want Jenkins. Dan Snyder will probably overpay for him and I won't have a problem with that at all. People give Al Davis all kinds of shit, but Snyder is just as bad.
