Taylor's "safety" on Roethlisberger was my favorite play of last season. I'd bring him back just to say thanks for that. Then cut him in week 2.
"Now, you see, you can't trust the Maserati's navigation...telling you to turn left when there's a river on the left...man I'mma be late, gunna miss the Make-A-Wish kid, oh well, hope the chef is making something good tonight..."
Indifferent on him. He did more for the team than some will ever care to admit but he also didn't do enough for me to miss him if he doesn't come back. If he only wants to play for the Jets I guess it couldn't hurt to bring him in for camp.
Yeah, whether he comes back or not is not likely to be a huge deal for the Jets. His play last year was on average pretty average. Some high points but not really enough of them, and there's no reason at all to think he would make more of an impact this coming season if he comes back.
I'd say let him come back for cheap. The locker room needs some veterans, and he's a former DPOY, couldn't hurt to have him around some of the new guys. Also, since he's said he only wants to play for the Jets, it sounds like he's really bought into the system. Might be good for the locker room. Was he a total beast for us last year? Nah.. but he wasn't horrible. So that's why I say bring him back, but for cheap. Also... 1000 posts for me!
Took the words out of mouth. Was a good guy, played hard but he;s finished. To bad he was not 5 years younger, that's what we need, not this version
This. The guy wasn't a double digit sack artist, but he probably made as many impact plays as anybody on the defense. That safety against Pittsburgh goes down as play of the year for me. And I seem to recall he had another game-ending sack earlier in the season, I could look it up but I'm not gonna. What people have to remember is the draft isn't a sure thing. I'm sure the Jets will be thrilled if they find themselves in a position to draft a guy who'll be a dominant pass rusher for the next decade, but in the very likely event that that doesn't happen, it's good to have something to fall back on. Taylor will come cheap, and he brings a lot of experience and competitiveness to the table with him. In any case, the best bet the Jets have for a ten sack season in 2011 is Calvin Pace. Here's hoping the big fella can stay clean and healthy for a full year.
the difference between a fan and a fanatic i guess. there are certain guys i will just never root for. he is one of them. there are certain standards that i try to keep. i dont root for guys i hate just because they are now on the team i root for. there arent alot of guys that fit into the jason taylor category and its tremendously infrequent that a situation like this comes up but i sure do wish the jets had told him to go fuck himself last year.. and really hope they do this year.
Singing a different tune now: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/24/141120/ Jason Taylor talks about a return to the Dolphins Posted by Josh Alper on July 24, 2011, 8:50 AM EDT Earlier this offseason, Jason Taylor said that the ship had sailed on the chance of his returning to the Dolphins. The length of the lockout seems to have given that ship enough time to head back toward the port, because the defensive end is now singing a different tune about the possibility of a third tour of duty in Miami. While playing at a charity golf tournament held by former NBA player Alonzo Mourning, Taylor left the door ajar. “I appreciate the interest and the concern if there is any,” Taylor said. “No ships have sailed, no bridges have been burned.” Taylor started five games and recorded five sacks for the Jets in 2010. He was released by the team just before the lockout began along with several other veteran players and both sides indicated at the time that they would be open to renewing their relationship for another season. Taylor told Mike Beradino of the Sun-Sentinel that he shares a trainer with several members of the Dolphins, but hasn’t discussed business with them. In Miami, Taylor would be asked to split time with Koa Misi across the field from Cameron Wake. Taylor sees the benefit in such a partnership. “It’s a good spot,” Taylor said. “It’s a good fit for both players. It’s good to be opposite Cam Wake and then for Cam to have somebody opposite him too. It’s very beneficial to both sides. I had the pleasure of playing with Adewale Ogunleye and Trace Armstrong and Kenny Mixon and those guys. We kind of scratch each other’s backs.” Taylor is the Dolphins’ all-time leader in sacks with 124. He’s tied with Lawrence Taylor and Leslie O’Neal for eighth on the NFL’s career leaderboard with 132.5 career sacks.
I think he helped the team for sure. If he fits within the salary structure, I'd like him to come back aboard.
I honestly don't care. If he fills a need for the Jets and we can get him at a fair price, fine. If he signs with the Phags, fine. Not a make or break deal. The guy was a Dolphin forever, can't blame him for wanting to finish his career on a losing note in teal.
Can you blame him? Home is where the heart is. JT is a dolphin, and always will be. Just like Chad is a Jet and always will be. Just because they donned the others colors at the tail end of their careers doesn't mean they aren't who they are. I would welcome Taylor back. he was a hell of a lot better than expected last year. If he gives us a fraction of it, he is welcome back. We need all the pass rushing help we can find. That said, we are very limited in funds. if we can't afford him, than Westerman has to step it up.
“I appreciate the interest and the concern if there is any,” Taylor said. “No ships have sailed, no bridges have been burned.” “It’s a good spot,” Taylor said. “It’s a good fit for both players. It’s good to be opposite Cam Wake and then for Cam to have somebody opposite him too. Jason was great for the Fins but it seems that he is saying all the right things to find a team. IMHO I'd rather keep building with the youth at the OLB position than bring him back home.
If he comes cheap than sure but honestly he will be more useful as a lost free agent so that we can sign another one
If JT came here it wouldnt be for much more than the Vet minimum. The guy is past the point of trying to earn a buck at this point
