hehe its funny only because i just read the other tommie harris thread that was moved to the nfl forum...
Now why in the world would I want to do that? I think Harris in a Jets uniform before the end of the week is a fabulous idea! He's a stud and could possibly go at DE as well in the 3/4. Oh yeah...wouldn't be the worst thing we did with what little of an off season we have this year.
You must have been thrilled when the Yankees signed Mark Pryor. Edit- I like Harris, I really do. He's just been hurt more often than not. It's the same situation as Bob Sanders. I can't act like hearing that he was released didn't peak my interest a tiny bit. I just don't love it.
Harris is a dominant player when healthy. I think part of his problem has been that he needs to be rotated out more often. Chicago would play him for about 98% of the total defensive snaps, which wore him out and exposed him to injury. I believe if you get him into more of a rotation w/ guys like Devitto,Pouha, and others, and let him play 60% of snaps rather than almost constantly being on the field...he can be a beast in Rex's scheme. Shouldn't be too expensive w/ his injury concerns..
I hate when people make the argument that a player fits a 4-3 or a 3-4.....really how many times do we actually play a base 3-4 defense? Rex fits his scheme around the players he has and that's what makes him a defensive genius. With that said I wouldn't mind seeing what Rex could do with Harris, if he came cheap.
Rex fits his scheme around the players he has, and rubs a hybrid defense. Despite that, he's typically utilized players on the front with 3-4 experience and size. Harris could be a decent fit. Do you really want to spend the money on a guess? Especially one who hasn't had an impact since 2008?
