That's all I could think about during that game. If Jenkins were in there, how much different the defense would've looked. The part of this article that scares me is, after Jenkins shows he understands the Jets' point of view, he says its "their decision to make." I hope that doesn't mean he's already made the decision that he has to make, namely whether or not to accept some sort of reduced salary in '11. He can make the Jets' decision a lot easier if he can give a little bit on his end.
I stopped thinking about the lack of Kris Jenkins in week 4. He's not a realistic option, the guy has already has 3 ACL surgeries, and he's constantly overweight. I really liked the 12 games out of the past 3 seasons that he was healthy, but I don't even consider him an option anymore. Seems like a great guy, though.
I agree with this. At this point it's really close to a fantasy to think he's going to come back. I would love to see it, and the Jets I think are more likely to offer him an incentive laden contract than cut him outright, but him coming back strong and durable is just not in the cards.
If the Jets had PLAYED for 4 quarters, hell 3 quarters, against Pitt they would have made it......... but I agree with your point, he makes a big difference...
What really bothers me most about Jenkins is that I have heard him interviewed numerous times and he flat out said that " he was not ready to come back" he said and again I quote "I was not playing at 100 percent " and to think this guy was put back on the field before he was ready/ healed really blows! I wish he had not gotten hurt again---I would rather he sat for 6 or 8 games and come back 100 percent then risk his health ----my gut tells me that he will come back and sign for less and I think the Jets will want him back. I also heard him speak and say that a delayed start to next year due to this problem with the owners and players would make his decision to come back " even easier as he likes the idea of no mini camp or preseason at his age and coming off the injury " can't say I blame him
No matter what happens this off-season with big Kris I'll always respect the player he was. A real straight shooter who loved to play for this team and didn't sugar coat it at all. His expectations are realistic and he knows what's at stake. He's not a baby like some of the older Jets who would bad mouth this team if we do decide to part ways. Really hope we do get to see him in regular season games for one last time next year.
Agree with this 100%. I'd love a healthy Jenkins on our line, but at this stage that's pretty unlikely.
him going down the last two years stopped our defense from going over the top talent wise. obviously its paycut or gone considering his age. hes one of my favorite players ever. Just love the guy on and off the field. wish him the best of luck whether its in uniform or not
