I understand the point everyone is making, but why let a guy test free agency that we spent a 2nd round pick on to get? He had a very solid season, and I don't really like our depth at corner without Cro.
I am not sure of all the conditions of the trade but maybe if we don't sign him we give up a 3rd instead of a 2nd. Does anybody know the conditions of the trade?
Could be a negotiating tactic. His agent may be demanding an obsene amount that the Jets don't believe he is worth, so they're having him show proof of his market rate.
For the 8 millionth time: We. Can't. Sign. Him. Until. CBA. Is. Reached. Anyway. Cro will hit free agency no matter what.
I think this is the right choice considering that Cro's value is going down with this shit he's been doing.
Id rather have Cro and either Edwards/Holmes. IDK bout you guys, but Keller litteraly dissapeared when Holmes arrived.
Sure we can, as long as cro doesn't want an increase in pay of more than 30% for the life of his contract. For knowledges sake, I believe the Jets paid him 1.5 million this year, a 30% increase would put cro at about 2 million a year. The Jets would sign on for that deal in a heartbeat. Cro on the other hand will laugh at the notion of playing for 2 million and will want a big time increase. As a result, no chance in hell we bring him in thanks to the 30% rule. It's the same reason we can't resign Harris and Holmes. The only one of our top teir FA's that might be able to sign pre-cba expiration is Braylon. He is the only one who made approximately what he is really worth last year.
Cromartie made $1.195 million in new money in 2010. The best we can do is sign him to a contract with base salaries and non-signing bonuses starting at $1.55 million and rising by 30% every year. Anyone think Woody's willing to front him a $16 million signing bonus on a 5 year $25 million deal?
I think the bengals got the 3rd rounder for Fitzpatrick who played for the bills, and played quite well eventually finishing the season as a starting QB. They also lost Housh their leading receiver the year before and a starting interior lineman. The titans got the 3 for Alberts 100 million dollar deal that went essentially unreplaced in tennesee. As for atlanta, I think its for Foxworth. By letting him walk, their pass d was horrendous, hence the reason they spent quadrillions on Robinson last year. Frankly I am surprised 3 teams received a 3rd last year. but you are right, either next year nearly no FA movement will take place (if FA is so late its basically the start of TC) or 80% of potential FA's will be going elsewhere...
He doesn't play our style of football and Wilson is going to be the starter like it or not. And what's with the pussy SOJF signature? Be proud.
A guy who cant read is calling me not bright, seriously? I said a 1st round pick should contribute in year 1 and start by year 2. His job was to contribute, not get lit up early and then do nothing the rest of the year. And, if we are being honest, you dont know what he will do next season. He can be great, he can stay the same, or he can regress even further.
Come on dude, Brian brohm is a clown. I think Wilson will be a good player but not based on what he did in week 17 at all
Starting or not, Fitzpatrick's contract wasn't high enough for him to pull that 3rd, and his play in 2009 was FAR from good enough for that. Cincy was lucky to pull a 4th for him. Lack of performance aside, it was TJ who pulled the 3rd rounder for Cincy.
the QB is irrelevant in this case. Wilson was blanketing Stevie Johnson all day. Sure Johnson may not have cared, the season was over, the team was getting blown out and brohm is terrible, maybe wilson still ran with Johnson and covered him very very well. Anybody hear wilsons name at all in the postseason? neither did I. And I know he was on the field for at least a handful of plays each game. Which means he was getting action, and not being beat at all in the playoffs. This is indicative of growth. Sure he didnt do it against #1 or #2 receivers but he definately was playing better down the stretch. this isn't indicative that Wilson is ready to start, but it shows he is getting better. And with an offseason to work, and actually having Revis around to learn from will certainly do him some good. I for one expect wilson to grow and play really well next year regardless of whether he is starting, or in the nickel.
Development of Sanchez with a WR tandem for a (few) years to come > Cromartie. That's my take on it, and I'm not alone.
