Love Eric Chavez, shame he's a Yankee now.

He worked his ass off rehabbing after the last injury and should he make the roster, he'd be a nice defensive backup, probly being a 3rd or 4th pinch guy too.

Pettitte isn't planning on a comeback but he won't completely rule out another go-round after a year off, tweets Marc Carig of the Star-Ledger.

I like the low risk/high reward possibility of all the washed up/formerly good guys we've brought in, but I expect us to get jackshit from all of them in terms of production, minus Garcia -I think he will eat some innings for us.

Baseball can't start soon enough - early NFL offseason is driving me crazy.

^ There's only so much about the draft I can talk about and do. I'm ready for baseball! I haven't even had a fantasy draft yet.

I just renewed my keeper fantasy leagues today, so I'm officially in baseball mode. Draft is in 48 days. Yahoo offers an auction style draft now, which I'm psyched about.

Just bought a new graphics card and a 23" HD computer monitor, too, so the MLB.tv games should look superb. I despise their customer service and hate giving them my money, but Comcast is apparently still dragging their feet on HD feeds for all games on their Extra Innings package. And when comparing all of the evils, no baseball is the most evil, Comcast is slightly less evil, and MLB.tv is the least evil, despite still being really, really evil.

Maybe the lost weight was something more than just getting fit this year, maybe it's to show other teams he can be dominant and get healthy.

He would be wise to opt out and get a huge deal from the Yankees, especially if he has another Cy Young finalist year.

If the Yankees suck, I'd opt out and look for a contender.

 at the idea of leaving the yankees to look for a contender.

It's just common tactics to leave the door open so he has leverage for an extension. It could get ugly and he could opt out, but It's very slim.

Where is he gonna go for a better contender? Philly? I think they have enough money tied into his position.

I think it's more to show the Yankees he is worth a gigantic extension, especially now that Lee is not there, Andy is gone and he is the only top tier pitcher they have. They have to throw the bank at him, he knows it, they know it, we all know it.

This is more than likely just to get a huge extension.

Hopefully that leverage will be somewhat mitigated by Burnett having a bounceback year, Hughes improving on last season, and a big trade involving Nova, Betances, Banuelos, Brackman, etc., or - alternatively - big contributions from them. I don't know how likely it will be to see all of those happen but, especially if there's a big trade, it becomes less necessary for the Yankees to essentially bid against themselves to keep CC.

I haven't seen a Yankee season where pretty much everything revolves around 1 guy trying to get back to form.

If Burnett figures it out, we will be fine. If he doesn't this season could get miserable real quick.

But yea, CC knows he has all the leverage right now, and the up to the younger Yanks to prove their worth to the team long term.

I thought you were in baseball mode 365 days a year.

Yeah, I played in two Yahoo auction leagues in 2010. Unfortunately, the commissioners did not take advantage of the FAAB waiver system. I have never played in a league with FAAB waivers. If I understand it correctly, it essentially allows a league to have an in-season salary cap. I could be mistaken, though. This issue is what is holding up my keeper league which is slated to start this season.

I am, but it's only "official" starting in the middle of February.

From November until then is just unofficial baseball mode.
