When the Eagles were making the playoffs every year it was because McNabb had to put the team on his back and make the plays, like P Manning and Brady. More often than not Roethlisberger is just along for the ride and all he has to do is not throw 3 picks and the Steelers win.
3 tds and 6 ints with an avg qb rating in what the 50s ? Obviously hes the reason they won those 2 superbowl games.
I definitely would put Ben a notch below elite. I would consider the top tier to include Brady, Manning, Brees, Rivers and Rodgers and thats it. As far as QB play they are head and shoulders above the field. Ben is a winner and makes big plays in the clutch, but he will never be an air assault meachine like those mentioned. Is Ben a damn good qb? Hell yes! I wouldn't mind having a qb with his ability running my team (and actually I think we doin some ways, Sanchez reminds me in many ways of Ben) To call him a choke or anything of the sort is a joke - as bad a game the Steelers played he still was able to get them within a score.
well, you can't win it if you don't get there, and all the nitpicking about his super bowl performances in the world can't deny he's been pretty damn good in the games to get them there, so you can't simply dismiss that if he doesn't perform up to the same par. at some point, the super bowl wins and the totality of his entire career negates his super bowl stats.
Some of you better watch your words while you brag about Sanchez being a "consecutive AFCCG-reaching QB."
He was a huge reason why they beat Arizona w/ one of the greatest drives in SB history late in the game to win it. He was awful in his 1st SB but they aren't close to the SB w/o him and he was medciocre at best the other night but again they aren't beating Bal or the Jets w/o Ben. I don't get all the Rivers love. He's like a modern day Warren Moon, great stat guy but when it matters most he can't seem to have success. The one time they made the title game was a game he got hurt in and they won w/ Billy Volek.
Seriously, the guy gets 2 "clutch" first downs after playing like dog shit the whole game (30-something rating, 2 INTs), and he's a big hero now. But Peyton Manning "choked" because he waited until the end to throw his only pick of the game in Super Bowl 44. Sorry this is totally illogical. Like crediting AJ Burnett with a "win" and saying he's "clutch" just because he gets the last guy out, even if he gave up 5 runs before that.
I know right, because absolutely everything I have read from you this thread is dripping with logic. That list of QBs... most logical thing to ever touch TGG. Calling Donovan Mcnabb Donovan Mcfag.... Screams logic.
I think this thread title is unfair to Rothlisberger. Not a great passer, but definitely not a choke artist.
Yeah. How could they ever find someone else to go 10 of 19 for 133 yards, 0 TD's, 2 INTS, 33 Rating against the Jets. That is irreplaceable!
It's about more than #s, he kept drives alive in the first half w/ his legs, he amde the 2 biggest plays of the game. The difference btw losing in the WC rd and getting to the SB was in the WC Rd Manning couldn't get that 1st down to end the game and Ben got TWO 1st downs to end the title game both happened b/c of his legs to buy time and great throws.
I'll take the QB that puts the team on his back, had over 100 QB rating, and didn't throw any picks (in the two games mentioned above) over the "winner" who threw 4 picks between the AFCC and SB.
obvious troll is obvious. Why so many are attempting to debate him is is stupid part of this whole thread.
It's valid that Roethlisberger is not on-par with Brady and Manning, but that's like saying the drawing that your 10-year-old just gave you isn't on par with some work by DaVinci or Monet. You're comparing him to two guys who will probably end up in the top 5 to play the position.
Everyone on BSPN except Rob Parker was riding his dick all week going into the Superbowl. I think Roethlisberger is a good QB but he's seriously overrated. There are quite a few active QBs with no rings who are better than he is.
