that same peyton manning with 15 injured players almost won in new england so your clueless... Doesn't our win against the pats count? Brady went to your house and carved your defense for 39 points and 355 yards passing...
For a long time in my life (I am 32) The Steelers titles were part of the glory days. Fans of my generation only knew the heartbreak of the AFC Championship game losses to the Chargers, Patriots (twice), and of course Super Bowl XXX. When they broke through and beat the Colts on the way to Super Bowl XL I finally started to allow myself to believe they could finally win a title. But even then it was cautious optimism. I always told myself one title in my adult lifetime would be awesome, anything more is just a bonus. Keep in mind I am also a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates who came very close to breaking through and going to the World Series in the late 80's early 90's. Of course after the Barry Bonds/Francisco Cabrera incident, the Pirates have not had a winning season since. So in THAT context, I know what it's like to root for a team and see nothing but heartbreak. The Steelers and Pens have both won titles in recent memory. I'd love to see the Pirates competitive again. Don't ever take anything for granted in this game. The best team doesn't always win. A lot of posters here on TGG were proclaiming blowouts and talking about who they wanted to face in the Super Bowl. Some gave the Steelers no chance. (Not all...just some) Enjoy the moment when it comes, because I do believe Rex Ryan WILL get you guys to the promised land. You already have a better QB than the Baltimore Ravens ever had.
Extremely close, of course Rex knows the Steelers well so I'm not surprised. I tend to respect the physical football teams (Jets, Ravens, Packers, Bears) more than I do the pass-happy teams. Some of those high scoring aerial displays can get boring. Who wants that when you can watch two teams beat the shit out of each other and grind out a close win. We might all have heart attacks in the process, but you can guarantee it will be a great game. Best of luck next season. I expect to see them again next year. Then again the Steelers are in the SB, nevermind, they won't be in the POs next year, lol.
That suffering doesn't compare to what some go through. I'm in my late 30s, and of my favorite teams, I have seen one title by the Mets, one by the Rangers, and none by the Jets. That's in more than 100 combined seasons since I was born. For that matter, I was born in 1974, so I wasn't alive when the Mets won the 1973 pennant. I've only seen one title game/series loss in my lifetime (2000, Mets). That is a lifetime of futility no Pittsburgh fan could ever understand. I am just thankful I don't care much about basketball, and not at all about the Knicks or Nets. That would be another lifetime of pain.
If you were born in '74 then you have the '86 WS That's kind of like me w/ the Yankees except the Yanks never made a WS or the playoffs as a kid for me. Now we are all spoiled but prior to '95 anyone around my age(mid 30s) nevers aw the Yanks win or were babies when they last won in the late 70s.
Yes. The two titles are the 1986 Mets and the 1994 Rangers. The one title game/series loss is the 2000 Mets WS loss...oh, and I forgot to include the 1979 Rangers Cup loss to the Habs.
Christ, I got 13 years on you, wasn't feeling old until now, lol. The days of Mean Joe/Lambert/Blount, etc were days I thought I'd never see again. Though this D is NOT the same D as the 70s, they're making a name for themselves. Need to get a Revis-like player (2 Revis' preferably) to get that secondary better and I'd feel a lot better. Hmmm come to think of it, Revis for Holmes would have been a GREAT trade, lol
The Yankees have runs for just about every generation. Even when they go through a down period, like the mid-late 80s, their next run isn't too far away. It's certainly not that way for the Mets.
I was born in the 70s and too young for the '77-'78 titles. I didn't see a championship(or a postseason) until I was at the end of my college years(first postseason Jr year, 1st WS Sr. year). That's a long time. I had even seen the Jets in 5 postseasons in that time frame including a title game.
Good point. Seeds would have changed to: 1. Patriots 2. Ravens 3. Colts 4. Chiefs 5. Jets 6. Steelers
So the season would have played out exactly the same way had Steve Johnson caught the pass and they beat Pitt?
Maybe but I'm on the talking shit after the fact is for pussies side. You beat us, over a fucking week ago. STFU and try not to get stomped by the Packers. My favorite gem was if we talked shit going into the game they would have beaten us down more. Hahaha you were an incorrect fumble call and a blown drive by Schotty away from watching the SB even as bad the Jets played in that 1st half they needed a blown call and a fuck up by the Jet O to win the game. If we were playing the Pats, Ravens, Packers we get blown the fuck away. I don't buy all this they took their foot off the gas pedal baloney.
