The New York Jets have signed 17 players since the end of the season, according to NFLPA documents. You may recognize a few names from the practice squad, but most of them are players that signed "future" contracts: S Wilfred Billingsley, RB Carlos Brown, P T.J. Conley, G Marlon Davis, C Robby Felix, DE Carl Ihenacho, RB Chris Jennings, G Dennis Landolt, CB Ellis Lankster, LB Joey LaRorque, DT Calton Powell, LB Brashton Satele, DE A.J. Schable, S Richard Taylor, LB Brian Toal, DT Lorenzo Washington and QB Drew Willy.
Satele gets his second chance. Ihenacho repping SJSU yet again on the Jets. If he and Gilbert stick, that's 3 Spartans. (Lowery)
Rams already signed him. Ellis Lankster.
Maybe he's still got hurt feelings and didn't want to sign? I can't imagine that would be true, just hitting all angles... Edit: should have refreshed once before posting, answered a couple of times above
Though apparently Chauncey was waived by the Rams so he might be a free agent once again. Couldnt be worse than LT
I saw on twitter they also signed Cody Brown to a futures contract.. OLB who was a 2nd round pick in 09 by Arz. Was on our practice squad for a while this year too I believe.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Weatherford bounced from the team with Conley as his replacement. The coaching staff was impressed with Conley at the beginning of the season but opted with Weatherford. I guess it depends on how much Weatherford will make in 2011.
One year contract given to players who aren't on anyone's roster at the end of the current season. Bascially you're lining up the end of your 80 person training camp roster ahead of time.
OK ta. Presumably that then ties them to us unless we cut them, at which point their contract gets paid up and they become free agents again?
