I thought the game plan was to pound away with Greene, quick slants to Holmes and Edwards, passes to LT out of backfield. Keep Big Ben on the sidelines (much like they mostly did to Brady) moving chains 10 yards at time. I know we got down 14 points quickly but why give up on game plan so early? I think I can only remember a few slant patterns even though they always seemed to work in past. LT - ZERO receptions, ZERO targets (from box score) Greene - 9 touches Holmes - 2 catches, 5 target Edwards - 3 catches, 7 targets 1st series - 3 first downs (2 of which came on Steeler penalties) 2nd series - 3 and out 3rd series - 3 and out 4th series - Sanchez fumbles on 3rd and 17 (a lot of people wonder why he was passing on 3rd and 17 from at their own 26) 5th series - 2 first downs then drive stalls at Steeler 25 and FG
It's easy to just say a gameplan that they should've done, as opposed to actually doing it against a run D that is good on historic levels. It's not easy to dig yourself out of a 24 point hole against a team like the Steelers. They shut down the run completely in the first half, and we couldn't sustain any drives period. Plus, our offense was barely on the field the first half.
Yup, Greene touched the ball a grand total of 2 times in the entire first half. Time to kill that running game.
Fuck being down 24 the gameplan changes when your defense allows a 10 minute drive to start the game.
The second half was going to be Sanchez beating the Steelers from the pocket. He didn't disappoint either, it's just the lack of urgency, deficit and time were major factors.
Stop with revisionist history, the offense lost the game yesterday. That 9 minute drive was a figment of your imagination.
Pittsburgh are impossible to screen pass or short RB pass to. Give a little credit to this defense that is ranked number one especially against RB!
That's why Greene had a 5.8 avg. Comeback - it was only on 9 carries. So why didn't we at least see if that was the case. I guess that's the way Shotty thinks. Well this such and such is working so well so we'll stop trying because it can only go downhill from here. We have one of the best receiving backs ever - not even worth a single try?
Well when holmes comes out and says that Schotty deviated from the game plan clearly GreenBlood isn't the only one thinking that
Putting aside Holmes crybaby act. Who is denying that he probably deviated from the gameplan? The reaction so far has been no shit that the gameplan didn't go as it was envisioned heading into the game.
Yes there is a need for two. So he can repeat the same points over and over again. I think he should spread each word of the thoughts into separate threads.
Are you sure LT was brought in here to catch passes? Based on last game, I thought his role was to blast away defenses by running up the middle every damn run in short yardage situations.
LT had 16 rush yards in the AFC game. I will never understand why we kept turning to him when Greene has the fresher legs and was gashing the Pitt D for significant runs.
