I agree, the defense sucked horribly in the first half. However, isn't it the offense's job to have a good game plan and at least make the game manageable heading into the 2nd half? 24-3? Come on. If it was 24-10 getting the ball in the 2nd half, it's a completely different game. The offense did zero in the first half. It's just as unacceptable and with how the Jets have been crappy offensively all season in the first quarter especially, there are no excuses. BS's strategy heading into games are just horrid. He reacts to defenses and tries to be cute instead of having a plan to knock them out from the start.
HAHA- More classy Steeler fans. Our offense is better then yours. Sooo, shut the fuck up. Many Jet fans who went to the game yesterday said that Steeler fans are the most classless fans they've been around. Even topping Patsy fans. Your shit secondary can't stop Sanchez wait till Rodgers torches you. I guess you missed the fact that Rex has won a ring with his defense. While at Oklahoma he was a defense coordinator, what the hell does that have to do with the offense genius?
3 of the most influential on offense. Guess we will be stuick for another year. Although, at times I sense frustration with the play calling from both Rex and Sanchez. LT won't say anything because he already knows he gets the ball too much.
Not here to talk smack. I'm a Steeler fan and wanting to say good job on a nice season. We as Steeler fans have been on many losing ends of the AFC championship games so I know how you guys feel. I was picking for our Steelers to win but, wouldn't have been surprised if we would have lost. Had Cowher been our coach, we would have probably lost. Cowher comes from Marty Ball coaching and to me, that's bad Karma. I have to laugh when I read your threads about your OC because we bash the hell out of ours. I also say the same thing, " no one will offer Bruce Arians a head coaching job because he stink so badly." Then I go onto say, Tomlin must not know anything about offenses because if he did Tomlin, would fire Bruce Arians. The Jets were my alternate team when I was younger and actually today. Growing up a couple of miles from Beaver Falls and Joe Namath being friends of the family I've been a Jets fan. I've never met Joe but have his autographs through family members that he keeps in touch with. Anyway, the Jets looked to have a different personality in last nights game and they seemed in a funk. I blame that on the coaching because the talent is obviously there. I was a huge Santonio fan when we drafted him. He was the first receiver taken in the draft. It was supposed to be a weak draft class bbut sometimes you just get a feeling about a player. I always thought of him as a number one over all pick because, we needed a receiver badly and we got the best one with our first pick. We nic named him Smokey since he likes his weed. The dude has talent and that can not be argued IMHO. I understand Smokey has a contract coming up and here is some advice. If you don't sign him it won't be the end of the world. He does come with his baggae of smoking weed, bitching about the lack of money or respect, twittering stuff that needs not said. He is a me guy that hurts him the most and sometimes the team. His self indulgence on the field for taking bows, running around with " look at me, I caught the ball " has actually cost us time outs in the past. He's a me guy and if there is one thing I can say about the Steelers, we have proved we don't need ME players to win. Anyway, good luck with the off season and you might only have one Super Bowl trophy to your teams credit but, you didn't have to cheat to earn it.
The coin toss choice wasn't important allowing them to go on a 9 min drive was important, the way we started that game wouldn't have made a difference one way or another whether we got the ball first or not. And yeah we should attack from the air but we still have to keep their defense honest, you are asking for an injury to Sanchez if you are neglecting the run allowing Pittsburgh's pass rushers to focus on just the pass since we barely had a chance to run that entire 1st half
Jets offense does not suck. Its not great either, but with a rookie (now 2nd yr) QB, this offense has been decent. Jets offense had an inconsistent year to say the least though and that can be attributed to the play of the 2nd yr QB. He stepped on the gas in the playoffs so I expect this offense to be better next yr. Yesterday, we lost because the O and D played terrible the first half. Offense needed one more TD. Or the D needed to make one stop in the first half. And we probably would have been looking at a different result. Probably. But thats past.
I enjoyed this post. Just throwin' that out there. Also... my husband says that every team hates/blames their OC when they lose. I wonder if that's true?
Thanks.....I didn't come here to brag or or rub your faces in the loss. I enjoy speaking with other fans as long as they can keep it on a respectful level. I get ticked when I visit another teams site and find some dumbas Steeler fan acting the fool or just stirring the pot. I really believe if Ryan can keep his team togehter and not make the game so personal, the Jets will go to next years Super Bowl. Unless the Steelers get better or fire our OC first. In answer to your question about. if other fans complain " yes " I think fans deserve some credit for what they can obviously see in front of them. Not all is understood but when you see the obvious or the coach not even trying to change things up well then......you should get to complain a little. If it wasn't for the fans... none of it would be. BTW, I read where someone said the Steeler fans are the worse fans to be around, you've never been to an Eagle game.
With the injuries we have had to the defense over the year, no we aren't as good as we should be playing. That said though, we shut down both the Colts and Pats offense for most of the games. The fact he had confidence in his defense to contain or limit the Steelers is not a stretch. Whichever way you slice it, deferring or taking the ball, the goal I would think is to not let the other team have to back to back possessions at the end of the half. Doing it one way or the other is no guarantee of that. If our offense was better than our defense (I think it could be, although it rarely performs that way), then I would want to see them take the ball more. Deferring is such a minor argument in the bigger scheme of things.
Is there any reason that we couldn't keep schotty, the same basic offensive system and have someone else playcall- callahan, cavanaugh, anyone who can get us into a rhythm, take advantage of the defense w/o being cutsie? The offense could maintain the same verbage, responsibilities just reorder the calls
Well Schotty would take that as a demotion and leave. If Schotty is staying outside help can most certainly be brought in but at the end of the day Schotty is calling the plays. Unless Sanchez progresses so much that he could be Peyton-like on the field.. lol. Hey you never know
Holmes came off like a huge prick last night. Great teammate when things are going well and then he pulls that shit when things go bad. Made my preference between him and Edwards clear as day.
"Smokey" real cute. I love how Steelers fans love to dump all over Santonio for smoking pot but get all sheepish when confronted with your franchise's support of the QB. I guess doing things the Steeler way doesn't apply when your 2 time SB winning quarterback is the one in question? I liked the rest of your post but take it easy with the Santonio bashing.
braylon made very similar remarks after we lost to the colts last year. wayne was mad at peyton when revis took him out of the game this year. it doesn't make them bad teammates, they're just venting after a tough loss. they're also just saying what a lot of fans were thinking. i think it comes from wrs the most because their productivity is the most dependent on other people. the qb/rb will always get their touches. so the receivers end up feeling helpless as they lose. in their minds, they can break the game wide open if the game plan revolved around them. it has to be frustrating i hope we find a way to bring them both back. i honestly don't know which receiver i'd rather have if i could only choose one.
I want them both back too but if I have to choose it is Edwards every day of the week now. Last year he may have made similar comments but what did he have to say yesterday? I don't quite remember but I know he came off like a mature professional that was disappointed after a tough loss. Holmes came off like a fan. You might think that is a good thing but to me that just shows that he doesn't get it. Fans are allowed to vent after a game because that is what they do. A professional player looking for a new contract needs to stand up like a man and take his share of the blame with the rest of the team. Instead he was looking to put blame everywhere but himself.
We don't or didn't call Holmes Smokey as a cut on him it's, just a joke. He is not a hated person here in Pittsburgh despite how you had taken my refrence to him. Santonio has been given a couple of three chances with the Steelers. 1. Got arrested in Florida after he was drafted. I believe the charges were dropped. 2. Threw a drink in some ladies face.... can't remember the outcome. Think there was a fine or something. 3. His website with pot leafs and the title " time to wake and bake. " 4. Nude pictures of him on the internet. 5. Got caught twice for substance abuse. 6. Telling everyone that would listen after the Super Bowl " Steelers won't have enough money for my new contract. " 7. Would be out for four games this season. That's a lot for the Rooneys to take from one player. They always give one or two chances but after that, the player is gone. I have to agree about moving on from a troubled person. I don't know about other Steeler fans and I'm sure there is a mixed amount of views like anything else but, I wear no pink colored glasses when I view Ben. The guy got into some trouble in vegas and I thought some girl came up with a good story. Ben gets in trouble again and the first story doesn't look too good for Ben all of the sudden. After all my hate and rage for Ben at the start I began to think the first story was how I originally took it. a gold digger trying to get some. The second time around I was sure he was guilty but, they have no evidence that proves that he is guilty. He said the girl is not being honest and so I'll believe him. If someone does me wrong they're going to hear about it and especially for what she is complaining about. At a minimum Ben is guilty of being a punk trying to run with young dumb drunken college kids. The guy probably has girls throwing themselves at him, I just can't see why he would feel the need to snatch the stuff ? How about Sanchez, what is the total story if any about him and the girl that accused him of rape in college ?
