My Dad was the reason that I'm a Jets fan. He passed away in 95, and I have always said that when the Jets get to the Super Bowl, I'm going to put a Jets pennant or shirt on his grave. ( People who hear this think I'm nuts ) Was so close last year.
guys great stories thanks so much for sharing----for you guys that lost family members I am sorry for your losses----I have my own reasons for wanting the Jets to win this game and move on to the big one , but I will have all you gang green guys in my thoughts as well--enjoy the game all
OP...great post. As I said in another thread my father is not a Jets fan. Despite years of trying to make me one, he gave up by the time I was about 10 or 11. That said, my father has begrudgingly become a Jets fan. As a kid, I punched and kicked holes into his drywall three times. The 3rd time (at the age of 14 '91 season) he made me spackle the wall myself. Something about football (and hockey, to a point) makes me a crazed person. Now, I'm not going to tell you guys my mood for the next 24 hours or so depends on the outcome of these games, but I will say my behavior, I guess, is noticeable to those around me. I think it says a lot to my father that he basically calls me after every Jets game no matter where in the country he may be. Hell, even outside of it. His love of sports is not where it once was, I'll never forget him jumping around our hotel room in AC when Bahr kicked his 5th FG, but I strongly believe he may care more about the Jets at this point. Even though his "boy" is 34 now. Go figure.
Just spoke to my Dad while we are down 24-0. Puts in in perspective. I love him and wish I could see them in 1 Super Bowl. His words, "John.....Same Old Jets. I guess it always will be." God, I wanted this one.
