The vid is a bit quiet at the start, but bear with it, great video.
I refuse to watch and listen to that video now, I rather wait until about 10 minutes before the game, to get me even more pumped up! (if thats even possilbe). I'm confident that we'll beat the Steelers on the road; because of Dennis Byrd alone. This mans heart and fight could take out the entire Steelers team himself. I believe he's a big reason why we beat the Patriots. His words played through this Jets team during the entire game. His message and story was THAT powerful.
Don't know if I have ever seen a man so genuinely humble and so respectful to fans. Started last Sunday with a tear in my eye with the Byrd story breaking (addressing the team) and same this week. Good post Gus. How about starting that Sunday roll call thread again- just for good Karma?
I have the Jets video yearbook from that '92 season when Byrd got hurt. It was such a forgettable season if not for Byrd's tragedy plus Al Toon's concussions forcing him into early retirement. The one part of the season that is unforgettable is the way Byrd's teammates rallied around him and beat the shit out of a Buffalo Bills team that was probably one of the best teams of the decade.
You forget just how big the dude was till you see him towering over everybody in that room. Great Jet, and is patient and cool with the fans.
Loved this video! So great how patient and friendly he was with all the fans and the kids. Can't wait to see him walk out for the coin toss!
He was SO patient and polite - good guy. It's so frustrating to see grown men holding crap over kids heads to get it signed. No way I could have patience for that crap!
I think dennis is going to get a position within the organization. don't be surprised. i think it'd be great. he just has such a great aura about him and you can tell by how articulate he is that he's a very intelligent person with a great understanding of life due to his circumstances
