Nice article. Only caveat is that imo Pryce has been kind of disappointing.

He has been a decent role player and has made a few plays, but I agree, I was expecting a little bit more out of him.

However, he still has 2 more games to make some big plays for the Jets.

Pryce has had his moments.. and he's certainly better than the alternative, Vernon Gholston. If Jenkins had never gotten hurt, Pryce probably wouldn't have been picked up.. but I think he's been fine as a role player to rush the passer and give Pouha and Ellis breaks here and there.

Plus, who knows how much he's provided in terms of leadership and such. He's always one of the guys right there to talk to the media and all that stuff.

i didn't realize we had so much turnover until i started counting:

    thomas jones
    kerry rhodes
    lito sheppherd
    corey ivy
    david clowney
    wallace wright
    jay feely
    marques murrell

That's 9 guys from last year's AFC championship game that are not here. 20% of our active roster.

Corey Ivy? I think you meant Donald Strickland haha

But yeah.. lots of role players were jettisoned this offseason. Marques Douglas, Leon Washington, Eric Ainge, Larry Izzo, Alan Faneca

Pryce is at a time in his career that he's a role player. He's not the flashy guy with stats that jump off the page at you. He's a been a good, stable addition to the rotation that is the DL.

Remember, the loss of Ropati pititoupititoupitituiasoapititoupititou was kinda tough. So Pryce came in and played the part.

Shepard was not going to play much for the Jets no matter what. His career was on the downside before he even got to the Jets. Rhodes kind of played himself off the team. Maybe another HC would not have gotten rid of him, but I think most would have.

Jones and Feely I was sorry to see both go, but LT has been a great pickup. I'd still rather have Feely than Folk, though. Is Folk Ryan's type of player? Not so sure about that...

The other guys are young guys who didn't stick.

Pryce was also brought in because he knew the system, I'm sure he's done wonders for some of the younger guys.

Pryce spent a full 3 years in Rex' system, just that knowledge alone has been worth it.

Great article about Rex's distaste for complacency. I think the fact that he doesn't stand pat, and continually tries to improve the roster while treating players with respect endears them to him.

He has final say over the roster? Didn't know that.

What exactly has Pryce done anyway? I hear him interviewed all the time, but I rarely ever see him on the ball during a game.

I dont agree about Pryce. I think he's been really good getting push up the middle. He had a good game against the Pats.

He's a Rex guy in the lockerroom. Just like Parcells brough Pepper Johnson, Meggett, Curtis and a few others with him in '97/'98, Rex needs guys who know what he wants so the others fall in line. He did it more noteably with Leonhard and Scott, but Pryce fit the role on the DL (especially after they canned Howard Green and Marques Douglas).

The great thing about this roster is it has a great mix of people. Adding guys like Taylor, LT, and pryce to go along with vets like T-Rich and ellis not only helps the young guys develop but at this time of year in these games these guys know it's their last shot and will not only play their asses off but make sure the young guys understand the urgency.

Then you look at our young core (Sanchez, Greene. Mangold, d-brick, revis, Harris. We have the pieces in place here to win for a long time and Tanny and Rex should be comended for the team they put together.

All that and I didn't even mention the thefts of Holmes, Braylon, and cro.

    Pryce gets substantial playing time.

I see him all the time around tackles, pulling people off the pile, at least he does that.

You really think that Tanny just tells Rex who he gets, and Rex doesn't have serious input? How did that work with the Ton situation again?
