This was really an ESPN article? It sounds like a fucking bleacher report article. This guy and his editor should be fired immediately for publishing such stupid nonsense.

Gronkowski could do it but they didn't want to hurt Revis' feelings so they put him on Branch.

Yeah, I wondered about that. Another example of a sports writer who did not become one by turning down a chance to be a rocket scientist.

I think these writers are really retarded in that regard.

If I am game planning against the Steelers, I'm not sticking Revis on Wallace. I'm sticking him on Ward. Wallace can be taken care of by Cro all right, as Wallace's biggest threat is his speed, not his lateral quickness (which gives Cro fits.) Why would anybody match up Revis with Wallace when he can do better than that?

Screw it, someone else can cover Ward. I want Revis to shut Wallace out.

Why? All Wallace likes to do is go deep. This is the type of receiver Cro can dominate.

Our matchups lately haven't totally been "Lets put Revis on the best guy, shut him down," it has been more of "Cro's is a lot better against this type of receiver, so lets stick him there and put Revis on the other guy."

That sentence kind of sucks, but I think you can see what I am getting at.

That is a bad piece of writing. He even says that the Jets plan worked against the Steelers last time... So why change it then dumbass? Revis and Cro don't follow the receivers around the field? O yes they have, just because they didn't do it last game as much doesn't mean they never did it.

Yes. I have come to the honest conclusion that Revis at full health, 100% and motivated can and will completely shut down any receiver in the league for the entire game. And of course my assumption is that getting "beat" is equivalent to giving up a large gain i.e. 15+ yards.

I don't love Cro on Wallace. Size and speed wise they seem to match up well, but Cro is liable to getting beat on deep balls (Garcon), which is the type of routes Wallace likes to run. Revis never lets up a big play, he's always right there with the guy no matter how fast. Putting Revis on Wallace could limit the possibility of a big play hurting us and neutralize the Steelers' vertical passing game, since Ward isn't much of a deep threat anymore.

I dunno, I think Revis will be moved around this game, not as much as in some other games but I won't be surprised to see him on Miller or Wallace a few times.

Any one on one match up favors Wallace.

He's just too fast for it not too....

There is no faster way for Pittsburgh's offense to derail on Sunday than having Roethlisberger go after Revis.

By all means, go ahead and try.

Is this going to go to way of "Chargers receivers can't be covered they're too tall."?

    You are dead wrong here.

Cro is NOT getting beat on every deep ball. He gets beat on deep route run by receivers a yard off the LoS, where he cannot use his hands to jam the receiver.

Wallace won't be placed a yard behind - he's the split end most of the time. If he is, then safeties - or LBs, whoever at the LoS - will have to chip him before releasing him (which is what Jets safeties did NOT do in both cases where Cro was beat.)
