<3 Rex. Can't wait to re-watch this game and really appreciate the defensive gameplan Rex cooked up this week.
Unbelievable Game Plan: "14 years in the NFL, and I’d never seen anything like it" http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AkemwsTW5BhCa2KfwVqnNERDubYF?slug=ms-morningrush011711
Funny how Bellichick can't adjust to a defense he doesn't have film on. Manning would have figured it out at halftime.
Yeah Manning would have figured out there's no one to throw to. It's on the coaches to figure out how to adjust the receiver patterns, the QB can only do so much. That's why this is a defeat of Bill Belechic more than anyone else
Brady folded like a tent under the pressure. Has there ever been a QB in NFL history who is less willing to stand in the pocket and take a big hit than Tom Brady?
Brady did look clueless, throwing balls at receivers backs, throwing left when they were going right. He was confused as shit, and it was beautiful. Hold Peyton to 1 TD in his house, should've been 28-14 this Sundat but I'll take 28-21 any day.
Re the OP, I think Ryan did great. But the players took the plan and executed it. Like... what happened to concerns about lack of a pass rush? Sean Ellis had the game of his career. They had no answer for him. Pouha and DeVito also played very well, and the Jet pass rush was great. I hope those here who in the last couple of off seasons would talk about letting Ellis go, or that he's getting too slow, that sort of thing, helped themselves to a healthy dose of crow on Sunday. Sean Ellis is the man.
His game is almost entirely the short/quick throws. He was never really a great deep ball thrower and he's pretty bad throwing the ball outside the pocket. Just watch, every team in the league is going to take the same tactic against them next year. Flood the middle, keep the safeties short bracketing their TE's, single-cover the long ball and be really physical with the receivers. It takes away their really annoying dink and dunk attack. The more time he has (with no clear target), the worse he gets. My guess is that he'll have a MUCH worse season next year. I'm calling 24 TDs/ 18 INTs.
My guess is they will try and bring in a deep threat big play receiver, but that's an off season type subject.
Peyton Manning will go down before he even gets touched. Im glad Brady got fucked up on Sunday, may he now fear Rex Ryan and his awesome defensive schemes.
I re watched it last night on the DVR and it was 10 times as good as the first time. It's great watching the meltdown of the pats. Brady played the all time pussy game of his life. The pressure spooked him bad. My recording starts with the pregame assholes saying how great Brady is and the Jets are doomed. Classic.
Teams will definitely imitate Rex's scheme from Sunday but you need the personnel to do it. There ain't many teams that can put guys like Revis and Cromartie single'd up. Regarding the deep-play threat, I'm nervous about the Patsies trading up for AJ Green if he slips back to the 5th pick or so.
