On that long drive in the fourth. He just let the clock run, making no effort to speed up the offense. I was thinking...thanks Brady, keep that clock running.
i said the same thing. i'm like if this drive doesn't net any points, this is a huge favor. thanks. i guess we can chalk that up to confidence in your offense in scoring and defense in getting a stop. still crazy though.
As Simms accurately pointed out, it was tough for Brady not to run the ball because his receivers couldn't get open all day. They took a ton of time off the clock, but running was the best way for the Pats to get the ball downfield. Running also meant that they needed to get a touchdown on that drive though, and the Jets defense was up to the challenge.
Seems like something the genius Bill Belichick would be in control of. Gotta wonder what he was thinking.
i dunno, the camera showed him on the sideline yelling about passing hte ball. i don't think he was happy with the run calls.
There is no excuse for that - that drive was a game-killer for them. It's fine to run if the pass isn't working (although he was able to pass it pretty well on the last drive), but they didn't hurry at all, and it ended up costing them the game. I think it was just more evidence of the arrogance that has cost them in their last 3 playoff games - they always think that they're in control, even when they aren't.
I was saying to my wife that the Pats were doing us a favor by chewing up so much clock for so little yardage per play.
No answer for that one...the Pats didn't seem to have much urgency until after they failed to pick up the 4th down.
Seems like he should have been yelling for the hurry up much earlier than when the camera showed him bitching about the run plays.
From Brady's post game comments, it sounds like they were confident they were going to score a TD and make it a 3 point game, thus making time less of a factor. Maybe a bit of overconfidence on their part, but it was definitely questionable.
They ran the clock out better than we did! Hah, I was saying they were cocky just watching it. It wasn't just that they ran the ball but they sure took their sweet time doing it, like they were up 10 instead of down 10. Besides, Brady had just passed the ball up and down the field the last series, you have the best QB in the world, I was laughing and screaming at the TV 'GOOD, KEEP RUNNING IT!'!
We are all asking ourselves the same question. He really didn't have anywhere to throw the ball for most of the game, so I can understand the runs, but there was no urgency whatsoever, and that's what didn't make sense. We had to score there to realistically have a chance after taking so much time, but the Jets D stepped up and made a great stop.
That drive was the worst and there were many piss poor drives, Brady looked like he was distracted all day, I'm sulking and sober, bad combo! On the other hand you Jets came to play for sure and dominated all day, good for you, you may take pleasure in knowing that this really hurts! I'm not a bandwagon fan, I followed them forever, good and bad. Don't know what's in store for you going forward, but best of luck.
