I think it's a bad comparison too. A FT is always the same shot regardless of the situation and nobody is rushing you or has the ability to block you. FGs vary in distance, angle and you have to rely on other people for a good snap, hold and blocking.

Because he's an assclown. Oh look, he made a 32-yarder indoors, big stinking woop. If a place kicker doesn't get that done he shouldn't be playing in the NFL. I want to see him do that in the wind when is 20 degrees out, or how about something from 45 yards away. I have no faith in this guy to make a tough kick

You care about our kicker? You have spent more time defending your stance on not being confident in Folk as a kicker. We need fans who are supportive, and you seem to really lack in this category. Go find Jay Feely and send him your regards. I'm tired of your lack of support. Folk did his job, and now the Jets are moving on....where is Feely right now. It's hardly a chip shot when the opposing team fans are yelling, the whole game is on your shoulders....Give credit where credit is due. Oh, and on the missed FG's in the season, how many were over 50 yds. Either get on the bandwagon or shut up!

I appreciate your kind words weezy. I root as hard as I can for Folk and every Jet player that puts on the uniform but as an adult I can think for myself and theseforums are a great place to dicuss those thoughts. If you are confident in Folk I'm happy for you, I don't feel comfortable w/ the guy BUT he hasn't killed us YET. I HOPE it doesn't happen, we'll see.

Was Pat Leahy the closest thing the Jets have ever had to an "automatic" kicker?

Ask Scott Howard whether draining those two FTs at the end of Teen Wolf were a walk in the park.

Pat Leahy was NOT a good kicker. he stuck around w/ us for a long time and b/c of that people think he was really good but he was very unreliable.

We haven't had good luck w/ kickers through the years.

You are right, and you are entitled to your opinion. It just gets old hearing negative comments and comments about Feely. From everything I hear and read about Folk, he's a composed guy who has a different personality than Feely , and a good kicker with a strong leg and so many of the Jets fans are having a hard time getting over Feely and are constantly ragging on Folk. At what point will he get the fan support he deserves? Just pulling for the underdog! Go Jets!

Leahy missed a lot more big kicks than he ever made. Best thing he ever did was retire before the end of 1991 so Raul Allegre could kick us into the playoffs at Miami. No way Leahy makes those.

For my money John Hall is #1 and Jay Feely #2 for the Jets as clutch kickers. Hall was erratic at times and missed one big one, but he made a lot of big kicks and I'd take him over any other Jet kicker right now in a big spot.

I need to only ask myself.

Rumeal Robinson made it look easy for Michigan over Seton Hall in the 1989 championship game, which sucked because the foul call was bullshit.:mad:

I remember you going on and on about how valuable Leon Washington was to the Seahawks just because he won a game for them. Well, Folk just won a game for the Jets, and a Playoff Game for that matter. I guess going by your own logic, Folk has already proven more valuable than Feely.

I'm pretty sure every Jet fan is rooting for Folk. That doesn't mean we have to lie and act like he is Adam Vinatieri.

I put Feely over Hall just b/c he was more consistent. Hall would make most of the big kicks or long kicks but he would miss chip shots or miss that kick that could make it a 2 score game. Feely was very consistent, I think he is the best K we have had in my lifetime of watching the Jets.

You are comparing kicking a chip shot FG to returning TWO Kicks for TDs?

Both teams have issues at kicker -- Shane Graham has choked in the playoffs before as well. I don't think either team will be comfortable with their kicking game if they have to make a field goal beyond 43 yrds.
