I didn't see it, but I can almost guarantee Ryan was laughing as he wrote it. People take him far too seriously.

Thing is I don't think people like Lupica hate him at all. They must love him. He could have banged out that article in 10 minutes and collected his paycheck for the day.

I agree that the message was playful, it was meant to be taken lightly... I just don't think that "soon" was referring to 3 years from now

Obviously not. It also wasn't meant to be taken that seriously like you said so now that people are being clueless dicks about that it seems that the only option is to act like a clueless dick back and say "soon could mean 3 years from now."

Cool story, bro. Thanks for keeping us up to date on years old Patriots history of ever so diminishing significance. This board just wouldn't be the same without these golden little nuggets. Now go away.

Mike Lupica is a douche. Leave it to a NY tabloid to shit on a local team after they've made the playoffs.

Let's not forget all those "classy" Pats moments, such as Belichick running up the score mercilessly and padding the offense's stats in 2007 game after game, embarrassing teams and coaches, throwing late in the 4th quarter with 30 + point leads, going for it on 4th down with big leads late in games.

Let's not forget Belichick refusing to shake hands with Mangini after losing a game.

Let's not forget Brady running off the field faster than Usain Bolt after losses, not bothering to shake anyone's hands or congratulate the opponents. Then we get the post game press conferences where he explains losses only with how much the Patriots sucked and never giving the opponent any credit. But he just oozes class.

And the dirty play. Harrison was a thug. Wilfork is a thug.

And don't even get me started on Kraft.

I love how when Rex says I want to be champs or will be champs all the vagina's come out as being hurt.

Saying you will be champs is not trash talk. It is just the useless pussies on other teams or fans of other teams that have a bunch of wadded up underwear in giant collective snatch.

Lupica is a useless boy lover that will bitch and complain about what Rex says. He will do his best to run him out of town and 15 years from now, say too bad we don't have anyone as entertaining as Rex. Fuck that little faggot.

well, it can't be both. can't be a light hearted comment not to be taken seriously AND a comment that needs to be dissected to determine what "soon" means.

all i'm saying is i'm not all bound up b/c we may not win the superbowl this year b/c rex promised me one.

    Breaking News: Lupica blows

If Lupica's isn't bad enough, on ESPN's Sports Reporters show this morning, Israel Gutierrez the Miami Herald columnist took Lupica's place today and during the show's "parting shots" segment flammed the Jets to no end. He said that HBO blew it by not extending the Jet version of Hard Knocks to a full season given the Jets "never-ending juvenile shennanigans" as he then listed every 'crime' committed by the Jets this year (even Antonio Cromartie's Hard Knocks/kids names clip)....not suprisingly there was snickering from the other ESPN panelists off-camera.

As to the "NY media" question while the Daily News has Cimini/Lupica, the Post usually cuts the Jets some slack. On the other hand, the Times are so full of their 'moral authority' selves and will usually look to portray the Jets (and Yankees for that matter) in a less favorable light.
